This is what we would like you to do:

Manage, maintain, and develop reliable accounting information systems and report on income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and capital for fulfillment of financial reporting requirements. Provide leadership, coaching and supervision to enable employee engagement and continuing development while supporting the credit unionโ€™s mission, vision, strategic goals, and service standards. Build relationships with other KCU departments by maintaining effective communication and coordination. Ensure that reports, accounts, systems, policies, and practices adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), NCUA guidelines and KCU Policies.


Primary Job Duties:

โ€ข Manage the accounting department reporting functions in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and reports for external compliance, the Board of Directors, Asset/Liability Committee (ALCO) and Executive Leadership in a complete, timely and accurate manner.

โ€ข Assist with the annual operating expense budget preparation, providing support and assistance to all KCU departments and personnel.

โ€ข Manage all accounting department functions. Assist and provide support to the Vice President Controller as needed in achieving effective operations and successful results in the Finance & Accounting functions and KCU as a whole.

โ€ข Supervise and lead a high performing team striving toward continuous quality improvement. Ensure sufficient staff cross training on all functions to provide adequate backup coverage needed in the operation of the credit union.

โ€ข Identify and implement process efficiencies and improvements. Maintain training and procedure documentation to current practices.

โ€ข Manage the accounting and reporting processes for the secondary market mortgage-backed securities and loan servicing portfolios.

Education/Certification:

โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting, finance or business studies from an accredited college or university with successful completion of a minimum 15 credit hours in accounting.

Experience Required:

โ€ข Five to eight years of recent experience with a minimum of 3 years in a senior or supervisor role in accounting.

โ€ข Experience in a financial institution preferred.

โ€ข An advanced degree may be substituted for work experience

โ€ข Experience in employee training and coaching

โ€ข Excellent understanding of the general ledger and components as well as internal compiled financial statements.

โ€ข Experience in data analysis, problem solving, identifying, and correcting errors and improving processes or procedures to prevent future errors.
