Job SummaryThe Regional Accounting Manager is responsible for both strategic direction and leading day-to-day accounting operations across the region, ensuring accurate financial reporting, disciplined execution of core accounting processes, and strong internal controls within a project-based construction environment. This role reports to the Divisional CFO and partners closely with regional leadership, FP&A, and project teams to support reliable financial outcomes, cash flow discipline, and operational transparency.
This is a strategic yet hands-on people leader who balances transactional excellence with problem-solving and continuous improvement, ensuring accounting processes are executed consistently, accurately, and on time.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Regional Accounting Execution
  • Oversee regional accounting activities, including payroll, billing, cash application, and project accounting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end close activities in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, WIP schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Support accurate revenue recognition, job cost reporting, and margin visibility.

Project Accounting & WIP Oversight
  • Coordinate with Project Control team to manage project accounting execution, including job setup, cost coding, WIP calculations, and percent-complete reporting.
  • Ensure project set up is compliant with accounting standards, including correct controls, standards for revenue recognition, etc.
  • Partner with Project Controls, FP&A, and operations to validate assumptions impacting revenue, margin, and ECAC.
  • Identify accounting issues at the project/job level and work with operational teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure appropriate review and approval of capital spend.

Payroll, Billing & Cash Management
  • Oversee payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with wage and labor requirements.
  • Lead billing and cash application activities to support timely invoicing and healthy cash flow.
  • Monitor AR trends, aging, and billing issues, escalating risks and delays as appropriate.

Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Execute and reinforce regional accounting controls in alignment with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Prepare schedules and documentation to support internal reviews, audits, and external reporting needs.
  • Identify process gaps and partner with Corporate Accounting on improvements and standardization.

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Work closely with FP&A to ensure alignment between accounting results and financial reporting.
  • Provide practical accounting guidance to project managers and regional leaders.
  • Support onboarding of new projects, systems changes, and regional growth activities.

People Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of accounting and project accountant professionals.
  • Drive accountability for deadlines, accuracy, and quality of work across the team.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with Loenbro's values.

Key Qualifications
  • 6-10+ years of progressive accounting experience in a project-based environment; construction industry experience preferred.
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP, and construction revenue recognition.
  • Prior experience leading teams across payroll, billing, or project accounting functions.
  • Detail-oriented, execution-focused leader with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience and fluency with technology, including proven adoption and use of new/emerging
    technologies (AI, etc.) for process and work improvement.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
