About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior IT Network & Systems Engineer with 10-12 years of progressive experience across systems engineering, networking, cloud administration, security, and technical team oversight. This role is ideal for a senior-level engineer who is still deeply hands-on but has also taken on leadership or light management responsibilities.
This position involves 70-75% hands-on technical engineering (helpdesk escalation, systems, networking, security, cloud) and 25-30% team leadership and management oversight (mentoring junior engineers, coordinating work, assisting with vendor management, and advising leadership on technical direction).
You will support a hybrid infrastructure environment that includes on-prem Active Directory integrated with Microsoft 365, AWS services, modern endpoint management, network security infrastructure, and enterprise SaaS applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Hands-On Engineering (70-75%)
  • Cloud & Systems Engineering
  • Architect, administer, and troubleshoot AWS cloud services (IAM, EC2, S3, VPC, monitoring).
  • Manage hybrid Microsoft 365 and Active Directory services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint permissions, Azure AD).
  • Maintain Windows servers, patching, backups, disaster recovery procedures, and monitoring systems.
  • Networking & Security
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network components: switches, routers, firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco, Palo Alto), VPN, WLAN.
  • Implement and manage security tools: endpoint protection, MFA, email security, vulnerability management, and security monitoring.
  • Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and remediation efforts.
  • Helpdesk & Escalation Support
  • Serve as Tier 3 technical escalation for complex issues across systems, networking, and security.
  • Maintain endpoint environment (Windows laptops/desktops, SaaS applications, patching, compliance).
  • Oversee user lifecycle workflows and ensure provisioning standards across AD and Microsoft 365.
  • Technical Projects & Architecture
  • Lead implementation of IT infrastructure projects including migrations, upgrades, and new technology rollouts.
  • Document systems, create runbooks, and improve operational processes and automation.

Management & Leadership (25-30%)
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical oversight to junior and mid-level IT staff.
  • Coordinate daily workload, set priorities, and ensure timely delivery of IT services.
  • Collaborate with leadership on technical strategy, budgeting, infrastructure planning, and vendor management.
  • Maintain accountability for system uptime, security posture, and SLA performance.
  • Assist in drafting IT policies, security standards, and operational documentation.

Qualifications:
  • 10-12 years of hands-on experience in IT systems engineering, network engineering, and cloud administration.
  • 4+ years of AWS experience
  • Strong expertise with AWS, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Windows Server, and modern endpoint management.
  • Deep knowledge of networking fundamentals: firewalls, VPNs, switching, routing, and wireless networks.
  • Strong background in IT security, including MFA, vulnerability scanning, endpoint protection, and patching.
  • Experience acting as a technical lead or team supervisor (formal management experience is helpful but not required).
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and ability to self-manage in high-paced environments.
  • Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash) is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus (AWS, CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft, Security+, etc.).

Benefits:
  • Excellent benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, and company-paid Life Insurance.
  • Generous 401(k) with aggressive company match.
  • Convenient location near Legacy West.
