Our client is seeking a Retail Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of the retail store and pro shop. This individual will be responsible for creating an outstanding customer experience while leading the retail team, maintaining efficient store operations, managing inventory, and driving overall sales performance. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a passion for retail, strong organizational skills, and knowledge of the hockey and skating industry.
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and develop retail associates to build a knowledgeable and customer-focused team.
  • Create employee schedules that align with business demands while managing labor costs responsibly.
  • Set clear expectations, monitor performance, and provide regular coaching and feedback.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support ongoing employee growth and development.
  • Lead by example by fostering a positive work environment centered on teamwork and exceptional customer service.
Retail Operations
  • Oversee all day-to-day store activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe retail environment for both customers and employees.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least three years of leadership experience in a retail management environment.
  • Two or more years of experience in sports retail, with hockey or skating industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of hockey equipment and a genuine passion for hockey and/or figure skating.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience managing inventory, merchandising, and overall store presentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with retail point-of-sale systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift up to 50 pounds.
