Hours: 30–36 hours per week

We are seeking a Salon Operations Assistant / Backbar Coordinator who thrives in a high-energy salon environment and enjoys being hands-on in daily operations. This role is essential in supporting stylists, maintaining operational flow, and delivering the polished experience our guests expect.

This position is ideal for someone who loves the hair industry, enjoys staying busy, and takes pride in helping a team operate at a high level.

Position Overview

The Salon Operations Assistant supports multiple stylists and service providers by assisting with shampoos, backbar treatments, color dispensary operations, salon preparation, and daily operational tasks.

This role helps maintain the flow, pace, and organization of the salon floor, ensuring guests move smoothly through their services while stylists remain productive.

This position requires someone who is fast, organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking while supporting several stylists simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

Stylist Support

• Perform professional shampoos and relaxing scalp massages
• Apply backbar conditioning treatments and specialty treatments
• Assist with blow-dry preparation when appropriate
• Prepare styling stations before services begin
• Reset stations after services
• Support multiple stylists simultaneously during busy service periods

Backbar Coordination

• Maintain organization and cleanliness of the shampoo and treatment area
• Ensure backbar products are fully stocked and properly maintained
• Monitor towels, capes, bowls, and treatment supplies
• Facilitate smooth guest movement through shampoo and treatment services
• Help maintain the pace of services when several stylists require support

Color Dispensary

• Assist with organizing and maintaining the salon color dispensary
• Ensure color inventory remains stocked and properly stored
• Maintain a clean and organized color mixing area
• Assist stylists with preparing color formulations when appropriate
• Monitor color supply levels and communicate restocking needs

Salon Operations

• Maintain a clean, polished salon environment throughout the day
• Assist with laundry, towels, capes, and sanitation of tools and work areas
• Support daily opening and closing operational procedures
• Maintain retail and product displays
• Assist in maintaining organization throughout the salon

Inventory Support

• Assist the Salon & Spa Manager with inventory management
• Monitor backbar and color supply levels
• Help organize product storage and inventory areas
• Assist with receiving, stocking, and organizing product shipments

Team Support

• Support stylists, service providers, and the Guest Relations team when needed
• Anticipate the needs of stylists and respond proactively
• Step in where needed to keep the salon operating smoothly
• Help ensure guests receive a seamless, luxury experience

Assistant Program Development

This individual will also collaborate with leadership and the Salon & Spa Manager to help develop and refine the salon assistant program, helping create systems, procedures, and training standards for future assistants.

• Lift and move salon supplies and laundry when needed
• Maintain energy and focus in a busy salon environment

Qualifications

• Previous salon experience preferred
• Knowledge of professional haircare products and color systems is a plus
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

This position requires consistent availability and is not suitable for individuals currently attending cosmetology school.
