Operating Room Volunteers are individuals who assist hospital staff in the operating room area, performing non-medical tasks such as transporting patients, preparing surgical supplies, and ensuring the environment remains clean and organized. They do not participate directly in surgeries or handle sterile equipment but play a crucial support role in maintaining efficiency and comfort for both staff and patients. Operating Room Volunteers often gain valuable exposure to the surgical environment, making it an excellent opportunity for those interested in healthcare careers.

What are the typical responsibilities of an operating room volunteer?

Operating Room Volunteers typically assist with non-clinical tasks to support the surgical team and ensure the OR runs smoothly. Responsibilities often include transporting patients to and from the operating room, restocking supplies, preparing surgical equipment, and helping with administrative duties such as organizing paperwork.
