Responsibilities:
To assure effective cleanliness of the department and to maintain adequate inventory of supplies pertinent to the departmental operation. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of and compliance with safety policies and procedures, recognizes safety hazards, and initiate appropriate corrective and/or preventative measures.
Duties of the position:
1. Maintain linen supply.
a. Include adequately stocked warming cabinet.
2. Maintain appropriate departmental supplies as available.
3. Routine cleaning:
· Dust all horizontal surfaces with hospital approved disinfectant daily and between surgical procedures.
· Mop Operating Room floors with approved disinfectant daily and between surgical procedures
· Mop all floors in all areas daily.
· Dispose of contaminated linen and trash appropriately
· Provide clean receptacles for linen and trash disposal in all areas at all times.
· Keep rooms and hallways clear of surplus equipment and/or furniture.
· Maintain scrub sinks clean and stocked.
· Maintain lounges and conference rooms in orderly fashion.
· Damp dust anesthesia equipment daily with approved disinfectant
· Maintain clean and functional suction receptacles.
· Keep walls and cabinets free of soil.
· Damp dust surgical lights daily and between surgical procedures
· Leave operating beds and gurneys covered with clean linen after cleaning.
· Safety straps and stirrup straps are to be clean at all times.
· Damp dust auto claves daily with approved disinfectant
· Terminally clean OR suites as assigned daily.
· Sweep, Mop and maintain floors as needed
4. Provide furniture and equipment pertinent to scheduled surgical procedure to surgical suite.
5. Maintain oxygen for OR’s
6. Assist in supply orders receipt and putting away
7. Remove sterile supplies from Central Sterile shelves prior to “sterility” outdate.
8. Maintain adequate level of dietary supplies.
9. Report damaged equipment to Clinical Supervisor of Surgery immediately.
10. Wear designated surgical attire.
11. Assist in positioning patients for surgery. Assist with positioning and holding extremities during prep.
12. Change PACU curtains, garbage, assist with patient turnover. Stocking linens, fluids and supplies
13. Runs errands as needed
14. Assist in moving patients
15. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Director/ADON.
16. Help restock inventory and assist in notifying low inventory
17. Assist in weekly checks of eye-wash stations and generator checks/care
Physical Requirements:Good physical conditions to frequently walk, bend, stoop and squat; occasionally sit, occasionally lift, carry, push, pull maximum over 50lbs with assistance. Must be able to see, hear, speak, and use both hands to easily communicate.
Occupational Exposure: Job involves tasks or procedures that have exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials during the performance of duties.
Competencies:
1. Basic Life Support (BLS)
2. Sterile Technique and principles of aseptic technique
Qualifications:· High school diploma
