Job Overview The Senior Analyst, Operating Cost supports the client's Operating Cost FP&A function and plays a key role in delivering high-quality budgets, monthly financial analysis, forecasting, and executive reporting to support effective financial management and decision-making.

Working under the direction of the Supervisor, Operating Costs and Manager, Operating Costs, this role partners closely with business stakeholders and Finance teams to ensure projects are established correctly, financial transactions are accurately recorded, and operating cost information is consistently reflected across accounting records, forecasts, Power BI reports, and management reporting. This position requires strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, financial acumen, and the ability to work effectively within established processes to support accurate financial tracking, reporting, and operational decision-making. Key Responsibilities Support the execution of annual operating and administrative (O&A) budgets, long-range plans (LRP), and monthly forecasts, ensuring alignment between budget, forecast, and actual results.

Prepare and support monthly account reconciliations and journal entries, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency across accounting records and financial reporting. Coordinate operating project setup activities by working with business partners to establish project structures, validate financial coding, and ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting. Prepare monthly financial summaries and analysis to support executive management reporting.

Maintain and enhance Power BI reports and dashboards related to operating costs, ensuring data accuracy and alignment with financial outputs. Perform variance analysis to identify key drivers, risks, and opportunities, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders. Support Regional Oil Sands shipper budgets and annual true-up processes.

Apply sound professional judgment and critical thinking to routine deliverables and ad hoc financial analysis requests. Collaborate closely with Finance team members to support knowledge sharing, continuity of deliverables, and operational efficiency. Support operating cost FP&A activities across the organization, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and Power BI-based analytics.

Maintain assigned Power BI datasets, reports, and views to ensure alignment with approved financial results and forecasts. Work independently on assigned analyses, journal entries, reconciliations, and reports while seeking guidance from leadership as needed. Manage recurring monthly deliverables and support ad hoc analytical requests with varying levels of complexity.

Partner with Operations, Commercial, Business Development, and Support Functions to gather inputs, validate financial drivers, explain financial results, and support informed business decisions. Coordinate with Regional Accountants and Finance Partners to ensure consistency between accounting results, forecasts, reconciliations, and reporting outputs. Support enhancements, data validation, and issue resolution related to financial datasets and reporting logic in collaboration with Finance Systems and Power BI support teams.

Provide financial analysis and reporting support to FP&A and Finance leadership for management and executive-level reporting requirements. Qualifications Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Minimum of 2-4 years of progressively responsible experience in an accounting or financial analysis environment.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with exceptional attention to detail. Strong organizational, time management, and computer skills. Experience building and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards is considered an asset.

Working knowledge of Oracle Cloud, Smart View, and Essbase is considered a strong asset. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with competing priorities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment. Results-oriented, adaptable, and capable of stepping into established processes quickly and effectively.
