Description

Skyworks' Irvine, CA design center has leading R&D and product development capabilities. When you join our team in Irvine, you'll join a uniquely collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering community that supports each other to create cutting-edge chipsets for cell phones. The Module Design Co-Op will work with the module team on part development, validation, and design. You'll be paired with an experienced mentor to help support you as an integral part of the team. Responsibilities

The candidate will work with a mentor and have the following job responsibilities:

1. Tuning RF front-end modules in the lab 2. Impedance matching using the Smith chart 3. Evaluating RF parameters like IP3, P1dB, NF, return loss, etc 4. Validating performance across supply, temperature, and frequency 5. Creating 3D models in HFSS and simulating S-Parameter files in ADS 6. Creating compliance matrices against spec, plotting results, and presenting a results summary

Required Experience and Skills

Candidate must be currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering (or related) BS, MS, or Ph.D. program • Must be able to work onsite in Irvine January - June 2027 • The Module Design/Validation Co-op should have knowledge of semiconductors, analog circuits, RF design fundamentals, wireless systems, and introductory electromagnetics. • The candidate should understand basic RF module building blocks like LNA, PA, switches, filters, inductors, etc. Understanding of design parameters like gain, noise, non-linearity, S-parameters, stability, etc. is required. • To perform job duties successfully, you must use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. The position also requires good communication and presentation skills.

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Exposure to a lab testing setup and environment, including commonly used test equipment like a network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, frequency generator, and noise figure meter, will be useful for performing the required job.
  • The Co-op should have used module design tools like HFSS and ADS, and layout tools like Allegro.

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
