Palantir Foundry Ontology Engineer, Junior
The Opportunity:
As an engineering and analytics professional, you're excited at the prospect of unlocking the secrets held by a data set, and you're fascinated by the possibilities presented by IoT, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Your deep engineering and analytics expertise, coupled with an original approach to your work, will guide clients and stakeholders as they make sense of their data and encourage actionable results.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer on our Defense Technology team, you'll introduce innovative methodologies to make a real-world impact on protecting our military. You'll share your skills in data engineering, data science, modeling, and technology integration to develop solutions to drive the mission forward. You'll collaborate with engineers, product owners, analysts, and mission stakeholders to design and develop Foundry-based applications that meet mission needs.
What You'll Do:
  • Translate mission problems into technical architectures, workflows, and ontologies.
  • Build and maintain production-grade data pipelines using Foundry's code repositories and pipeline builder with both structured and unstructured dataset inputs.
  • Design, develop, and maintain ontologies, and create operational workflows and decision-support capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and improve existing data pipelines and applications supporting mission-critical operations.
  • Work directly with clients to gather requirements, iterate on prototypes, and refine solutions through deployment.
  • Implement engineering best practices, including version control, testing, and documentation.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Travel to and work from client sites as needed for workshops, deployment activities, or embedded support.

You Have:
  • 1+ years of experience in software, data, or platform engineering
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python or TypeScript, and Palantir Foundry
  • Knowledge of the core Foundry applications and designing solutions to address client challenges
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders, define requirements and translate them into technical solutions, and break down complex mission challenges into implementable solutions
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, Analytics, or a Technology field
  • Foundry and AIP Builder Foundations Quiz Credential Badge

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience working directly with mission operators, analysts, or stakeholders in embedded or forward-deployed environments for clients in the defense or intelligence sectors
  • Experience creating data connections, code repos, or pipeline builders for data ingestion and transformation, and debugging and resolving pipeline issues, errors, and performance bottlenecks
  • Experience in ontology design and management, designing and developing applications and workflows, and integrating AIP solutions
  • Experience with Git repositories, CI/CD workflows, or infrastructure automation
  • Experience with AI or ML model integration within Foundry applications
  • Possession of strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Secret clearance

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $69,400.00 to $158,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
