Job description

Databricks Developer (Hybrid, 3 days in office, 2 days working remote)

Our client, a highly respected global manufacturing company with more than 100 years of success, is seeking a Databricks Developer to join their growing technology team. This is a direct-hire, full-time opportunity offering a competitive compensation package, excellent benefits, and the ability to work a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office, 2 remotely). Regular full-time direct hire position. MUST be a local to the Chicagoland area to be considered at this time. 

In this role, you will help modernize and enhance the organization's cloud-based data platform, building scalable data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives. You'll work closely with both technical and business teams to design and implement high-performance data pipelines, optimize data architecture, and support cloud migration efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable data pipelines using Databricks and Apache Spark
  • Build and maintain cloud-based data solutions supporting analytics and reporting
  • Develop ETL/ELT processes and data integration workflows
  • Support data warehouse modernization and cloud migration initiatives
  • Implement data governance, security, and access management best practices
  • Optimize data performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver business-driven solutions
  • Participate in testing, deployment, documentation, and ongoing support activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
  • Currently living within the local Chicagoland area
  • 5+ years of data engineering experience
  • 4+ years of hands-on Databricks experience
  • Strong experience with Apache Spark (PySpark and/or Spark SQL)
  • Experience working with AWS, Azure, or GCP environments
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience building enterprise data solutions
  • Background in data warehousing, data migration, and cloud modernization projects
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred

  • Databricks certification
  • Experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, or GitHub Actions
  • Knowledge of data governance and security frameworks
  • Experience supporting analytics and business intelligence initiatives
  • Additional Information
