Truck Driver / Laborer

Job Summary / Description

Duties include receiving “loose loaded” shipments into the warehouse, in person deliveries to multiple stops in Iowa (and potentially throughout the country as your career takes flight). We receive and deliver a variety of products ranging from kitchen cabinets to household furnishings to telecom equipment.

Our drivers and laborers will operate a 26' or larger box truck (or tractor-trailer if licensed to operate) and will assist with loading, unloading and safe handling of customer products and goods into and out of the warehouse for both residential and commercial delivery.

Full time and part time positions available!

General Responsibilities

  • Completes daily vehicle inspection reports (DVIR’s) to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Follows company provided delivery instructions, routes and company policies and procedures in performance of delivery services.
  • Complies with relevant and applicable hours of service regulations as necessary on electronic logging device (ELD) or paper log.
  • Reports vehicle defects, damage, accidents, traffic violations and/or roadside inspections to Warehouse Manager and Operations Manager.
  • Secures cargo for transport utilizing appropriate securement devices and equipment.
  • Understands the legal weight limits of the assigned equipment and ensures payload and gross vehicle weight limits are not in excess of legal limitations.
  • Secures certified weights prior to arrival at residence when performing a household goods shipment (HHG) and again after leaving residence upon completion of a HHG shipment to document weights and to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Obtains receipts or signatures for delivered goods, delivery photos and may collect payment for services when required.
  • Inventories and inspects goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions.
  • Utilizes technology to exchange necessary information with supervisors, co-workers and other company and customer personnel.
  • Completes online and in-person training courses as required.
  • Performs basic vehicle maintenance tasks. (Oil, fueling, etc.) and may perform minor repairs (light bulbs, windshield wipers, etc.)
  • Checks conditions of truck after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage to truck, no damage to product and no items remain to be delivered.
  • Recognizes that All Types Logistics strives to maintain a culture where teamwork and cooperation is required to execute the company vision and mission.
  • Returns equipment in good working order, clean (cab & passenger compartment), fueled and ready for the next day’s work.
  • Recognizes that safety is the most important standard.
  • Recognizes that clean equipment, clean uniforms and a professional appearance are the standards upon which our brand is built.

Job Qualifications

  • Education: Successful completion of company training modules and a straight truck driving test.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience as a truck driver is preferred, but All Types Logistics may train as necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds (not very often).

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid drivers' license with acceptable driving record.
  • DOT/FMCSA medical examination card

Skills:

  • Large vehicle operational awareness (weights, heights, braking).
  • Manages time effectively to stay on assigned delivery schedule.
  • Effectively communicates with office personnel to solve day-to-day problems.
  • Familiarity with commercial driving license hours of service (HOS) and daily vehicle inspection report requirements (DVIR).
  • Ability to lift heavy items (75 pounds +).
