Position Summary
The Department of World Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for an adjunct, non-tenure track position in Spanish. Adjunct faculty are appointed on a course-by-course basis. This posting is ongoing to develop a qualified pool of candidates. If your academic area of interest, graduate degree work, and professional experience meet our programmatic needs at any time through the academic year, you may be contacted to discuss teaching opportunities. The department needs vary from semester to semester.
The duties in this role include:
  • Deliver communicative instruction following the provided syllabus and textbook, for a variety of sections in elementary and intermediate Spanish courses.
  • Assess students' work and provide detailed feedback on how to improve students' oral and written communication skills in Spanish.
  • Report midterm and final grades to Registrar within the college due dates and platforms.
  • Communicate regularly and timely with the Elementary Spanish Coordinator and the World Languages and Cultures Chair about the general development of the courses and/or any issues that may arise.

Basic Qualifications:
  • The successful candidate will have completed a Masters or Ph.D. degree in Spanish, Linguistics, Literature or related fields.
  • The qualified individual should demonstrate high-advanced, native-like, or native fluency in Spanish at the oral and written levels.
  • Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students, and ongoing scholarship.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with teaching Spanish, Linguistics or Literature.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, teaching, and research.

Salary Range:
The budgeted salary range for this position is $3,840 to $4,380 per 4 credit hour course.
