Job description

Job Summary:
TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, aiming to inspire creativity and bring joy. The Backend Software Engineer will work closely with product managers, data scientists, UI designers, and other engineers to develop and optimize backend systems that ensure service reliability and performance for live streaming content.
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with product managers, data scientists, UI designers, and other engineers to iterate on data driven product ideas.
• Develop and optimize backend system design and architecture to ensure service reliability, performance, and extensibility of live streaming content.
• Build and maintain user-facing serving systems that handle hundreds of thousands of QPS, as well as data pipelines.
• Work to improve stability and performance and reduce costs.
• Deploy software programs and evaluate user feedback.
• Comply with project plans and industry standards.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Must have a Master's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Systems, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field, and 1 year of related work experience; OR a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Systems, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field, and 3 years of related work experience.
• Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in each of the following:
• Designing and implementing scalable, fault tolerant, distributed, and low latency backend workflow orchestration architecture;
• Designing and implementing large-scale, distributed online software services using programming language Java, Go, JavaScript, Ruby, or Python;
• Designing and implementing scalable RESTful APIs;
• Working with cross-functional stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into technical requirements;
• Writing testable, maintainable, and low latency software using high level programming language, including Golang, Java, Python, or C++.
