Job description

Charles Taylor is a highly successful global provider of professional services to the insurance industry. We are seeking experienced Risk Claim Consultants to join our team. This role is available as either a hybrid or fully remote position, based on the selected candidate's geographic location.

Candidates must be Wisconsin residents.

Position Summary

The Risk Management Consultant is responsible for developing and administering a comprehensive risk management and safety program in fulfillment of duties under the General Administration Agreement with the Wisconsin County Mutual Group. For individual Members and the Group collectively, these programs identify, evaluate, prevent, and mitigate losses to reduce their frequency and severity while keeping people safe.

Essential Functions
  • Acts as the face of the company
  • Creates and maintains relationships with Members
  • Works proactively with individual Members to determine areas with potential for loss and to develop mitigation strategies
  • Works reflectively with individual Members to review loss experience and trends and implement future loss control and mitigation strategies
  • Assists individual Members with establishing and maintaining safety/incident review committees – providing support and recommendations to these efforts
  • Advises Members on compliance with applicable laws, regulations or standards through site/program assessments, mock inspections, playground inspections, etc.
  • Develops and conducts effective, meaningful department-specific or organization-wide training for individual Members
  • Develops, coordinates, and executes large-scale programmatic events for the benefit of all Members (i.e. Highway Safety Days)
  • Prepares Member Services Reports, summarizing and documenting activities and various touches, including meetings, phone conversations, emails, training, consultations, and action plans
  • Regularly communicates and collaborates with Claims and Underwriting teams – accepting direction to ‘hot-spot’ issues or providing knowledge gathered in the field for their benefit
  • Collaborate with the Client Services team; advising others in areas of expertise, sharing information and knowledge
  • Maintains confidentiality to external sources regarding losses and challenging situations, except for those in a need-to-know situation, such as attorneys or agents
  • Attends conventions, conferences, and events to learn, present, and interact with Members, agency-partners, and peers
  • Interacts and is involved with various professional organizations and statewide associations – networking with Members and industry peers
  • Serves as a subject matter expert at various conferences and events – lending expertise by providing training sessions or panel participation
  • Intrastate travels approximately 75% of the time to insured locations as well as conferences and events within the state of WI. Overnight requirements are around 2-5 days per month.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Strong customer service orientation, willingness to “roll up your sleeves”
  • Proficiency in entire Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint or other presentation software
  • Familiarity with regulatory agencies and inspection processes
  • Awareness and proactively staying abreast of current trends affecting workplaces
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective presentation skills to all levels of employees
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to adapt to changing technologies; learning functionality of new equipment and systems

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field
  • 5-10 Years of experience in an Environmental Health and Safety related position
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Industrial hygiene experience
  • Prior experience in commercial insurance
  • Prior experience working with public sector
  • Prior experience in construction
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM)
  • OSHA 10 and 30 hour trainer
  • Certified School Risk Manager (CSRM)
  • Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI)
  • Certified Red Cross Instructor
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • State of WI Insurance License-Property and Casualty Designation
  • Valid Driver’s License
