Position Summary

Anne Arundel Community College is seeking a part-time Skilled Trades Math Instructor to support students in the Mechanical Technology training program. This course is delivered primarily online during the day, with some in-person presence required as needed.
The instructor will teach foundational math concepts through an applied, contextualized approach that connects directly to electrical and mechanical trades. Working in collaboration with the trades instructor, the math instructor will help align instruction with program outcomes, reinforce technical skills, and support student success in an Integrated Education and Training (IET) model.
Course content is housed in Canvas, and instructors are expected to use the learning management system to deliver instruction, communicate with students, and support an engaging online learning environment.
Candidates invited for an interview will be asked to provide a short teaching demonstration.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver engaging daily lesson plans based on the approved curriculum and learning expectations.
Contextualize math instruction so students can apply concepts to electrical, mechanical, and other skilled trades settings.
Collaborate with the trades instructor to ensure math instruction supports technical training objectives and reflects an Integrated Education and Training (IET) approach.
Use Canvas and other instructional technologies to deliver course content, communicate with students, and support online learning.
Provide clear, professional, and timely communication with students, faculty, and staff.
Support adult learners with varying academic skill levels, learning needs, and career goals.
Submit grades, attendance records, reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required.
At least one year of experience teaching math.
Availability to teach during daytime hours.
Experience using computers, instructional technology, and/or a learning management system to deliver online instruction.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work patiently and effectively with students of varying skill levels.
