Definition of Classification:

The University of Redlands' School of Education is hiring a Visiting Assistant Professor of Online Education for a full-time, 10-month visiting position in the Department of Teaching and Learning. This role is crucial for leading the transformation of our hybrid teacher preparation curriculum into a fully online modality while teaching courses in the teacher preparation program.

The Visiting Assistant Professor of Online Education is expected to be an expert in online pedagogy who can design, develop, and deliver high-quality online learning experiences for teacher candidates. This includes creating engaging, interactive coursework that maintains rigor and promotes active learning in digital environments, while ensuring alignment with CTC requirements and best practices in teacher education. Also, this Visiting Assistant Professor would be facile in supporting faculty with online course development.

A key responsibility is to ensure that teacher candidates receive excellent instruction through innovative online teaching methods and are adequately prepared to enter the profession as digitally literate, equity-minded educators. This involves expertise in online learning platforms, instructional design, and a commitment to fostering inclusive digital learning communities.

Hiring Needs and Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A Doctorate degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Technology, or a related field (ABD considered)
  • Demonstrated expertise in online pedagogy and instructional design for higher education
  • Proven experience teaching in teacher preparation programs (online, hybrid, or face-to-face)
  • Advanced proficiency with Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.) and educational technologies
  • Experience designing and delivering fully online courses with evidence of student success
  • Experience with a diverse range of learners and a strong grasp of current academic content standards and effective teaching strategies
  • Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and accessibility standards
  • Commitment to equity-minded teaching practices

ย Strongly Desired Qualifications:

  • A California teaching credential
  • K-12 classroom teaching experience (minimum 3 years strongly preferred)
  • Expertise in synchronous and asynchronous online teaching methodologies

  • A commitment to promoting the engagement of minoritized learners in digital spaces
  • Published scholarship or presentations on online learning in teacher education
