Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Multimedia Journalist who will be working with a team in a modern, purpose-built newsroom, and will be responsible for supervising and directing small teams of Multimedia Journalists in shaping day-to-day content. This individual will be responsible for creating imaginative, accurate and engaging news content for TV, on-line and social media output. Additionally, the Senior Multimedia Journalist will be required to perform tasks from beginning to end regarding producing, and airing of new bulletins, and shows.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • You must be able to originate ideas, develop running stories, commission, and select relevant material for online and TV broadcasting.
  • It will be important to come up with creative and innovative ways of storytelling for TV, online and social media.
  • You will be required, accurately and impartially, to cover stories and events using text, video, audio and stills and put them into an appropriate context to meet the needs of the audience.
  • You will also be expected to present complex material in comprehensive form.
  • You will be scripting, selecting, and compiling material, producing in the field and outputting TV news and programs.
  • You will be responsible for leading, directing and allocating work to junior staff as well as editing their work as required and providing editorial feedback and assistance.
  • You may also be required to anchor or present TV content. assistance.
  • Operate the Autocue as required.
  • Foreign travel may be necessary.
  • Carry out any other tasks as required.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven editorial judgement, and a strong track record of originating ideas and material for TV and digital platforms.
  • Experience of supervising and editing the work of others.
  • Recent and relevant journalistic or content creation experience.
  • A wide and up-to-date knowledge of Iranian and international affairs.
  • In-depth understanding of Iran’s history, politics, social issues, and culture as well as the changing needs of the audience.
  • Farsi as your first (or equivalent) language, a full comprehension of English and the ability to write, translate and adapt material accurately and to tight deadlines.
  • The ability to produce original material and preferably the capability to adapt stories for multimedia output.
  • Comfortable working in text, video, audio and stills to create multi-platform content.
  • The ability to report from the field as required.
  • Suitable voice and presentation skills are desirable.
  • The ability to exercise editorial judgement and display an understanding of the law as it relates to journalism.
  • The ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure, either alone or in a team.
  • Excellent contacts within Iran and the Iranian diaspora across politics, culture, social issues, business, and sport.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 8+ years’ experience in television news reporting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications or related field or comparable television work experience preferred.
  • Experience working internationally preferred
  • Bilingual in Farsi/English
