Job description

Position Type:
Substitute/Substitute Teacher
Date Posted:
8/6/2024
Location:
NORTHWESTERN SCHOOL CORPORATION
District:
Northwestern School Corporation
Northwestern School Corporation is accepting applications for Substitute Teachers. Northwestern requires:
  • A completed online application
  • Minimum of high school diploma from an accredited school
  • A current (not more than 1 year old) expanded criminal background check & DCS check, per Indiana Code
  • A current Indiana Substitute License (unless you hold a current teacher's license, which supersedes a Sub license). If you currently hold either license, please upload the document into your application file. If you do not have either license - further instructions are below.

Interested candidates should complete the online application - by clicking the link you will be directed to the Wabash Valley Application Consortium. You may apply to multiple consortium-member schools, as well as apply for multiple positions from the one application. An expanded criminal background check may be ordered through Northwestern's vendor, Safe Hiring Solutions. Their link is on Northwestern's website at: www.nwsc.k12.in.us - More/Employment. Substitutes may order through the Consortium shared link, making the background information available to all consortium schools, or on the Northwestern-only link. If a recent background has been obtained through another school, please contact the school and request that they fax a copy of your report to Courtney at 765-452-3065 or email to chelsea.detamore@nwsc.k12.in.us. Copies of background checks cannot be accepted directly from applicants.
When the background check has been ordered and the application completed, please notify Chelsea at: chelsea.detamore@nwsc.k12.in.us. Once ordered, the background check is usually sent to the school in 3-4 business days after the Indiana DCS portion has been completed. Upon receipt of a satisfactory background check, you will be sent the link to the state's licensing site to obtain the Substitute License. The fee for the substitute license varies. Upon issuance of the license, your name will be sent to the school board for approval. You will also be sent tax documents to set up a payroll file.
Northwestern pays $100 per day.
