Aurora Sewing Center is hiring a Full-Time or Part-Time Service Technician.
Do you enjoy working with your hands and figuring out how things work? Are you interested in learning new skills and building your expertise in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting? We’re looking for someone who can troubleshoot, communicates well, stays organized, and takes pride in detailed assembly and repair work.
In this Service Technician role, you will be working on small machines, performing diagnostics, repairs, and precise reassembly with small tools. Previous mechanical experience is needed. Willingness to learn and a strong attention to detail are required.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A REPAIR TECHNICIAN:
As a Service Technician at Aurora Sewing Center, your main responsibility will be to repair and maintain sewing machines. Sewing machines are amazing! Anything that can take something the diameter of a thread and manipulate at high speed it to do many different things and create, requires a wonderful amount of engineering. Those who succeed at this type of work tend to enjoy working on electromechanical devices. Do you have experience working with small motors, solenoids, and gears? Do you have basic computer experience or with circuit boards? Do you enjoy periodic physical work? Do you have a passion for detail? If so, then repairing sewing machines may be the perfect fit for you!
Each new hire in our Service Department goes through a regimen of hands-on training via a technician mentor as well as virtual or onsite vendor training. The Service Team at Aurora Sewing Center is helps each new hire gain the knowledge needed to be a productive and successful repair technician.
ROLE DETAILS:
  • Prior experience performing maintenance on electromagnetic devices, performing detailed assembly and re-assembly, such as with appliances or copiers or small engine repair. Sewing machine repair experience is a huge plus.
  • Ability to understand, read and interpret documents such as service manuals, parts catalogs and schematics, technical manuals, circuit diagrams, and operating & maintenance instructions.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments, tool room machines, and equipment.
  • Basic Computer, circuit board or digital electronic knowledge.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Show a strong desire and ability to continuously learn and improve skills.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members daily.
  • Must be able to lift and carry sewing machines and other heavy items, occasionally up to 50 pounds. Handle incoming palletized stock, and move and transfer items between store locations.

This role will be based at our East Aurora store location, with initial 1-on-1 training re-occurring at our Williamsville store location.
Other duties as assigned.
This role reports to the Senior Technician / Operations Manager.
Previous relevant experience is a plus, but not required—we’re happy to train the right person.
