What is an online distributor?

Online distributors are businesses or individuals who sell products from manufacturers or wholesalers to retailers or directly to consumers through digital platforms. They handle the logistics of sourcing, storing, and shipping products, often using e-commerce websites or online marketplaces. Online distributors play a critical role in the supply chain by making products accessible to a wide audience and streamlining the purchasing process for both businesses and consumers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an online distributor?

To thrive as an Online Distributor, you need strong skills in inventory management, digital marketing, sales, and an understanding of e-commerce platforms, typically supported by experience or coursework in business or supply chain management. Familiarity with tools like Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, order fulfillment systems, and analytics platforms is often required. Excellent organization, customer service orientation, and the ability to adapt quickly to market changes are valuable soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure efficient product distribution, strong customer relationships, and the ability to stay competitive in the fast-paced online marketplace.

What are some typical challenges faced by online distributors and how can they be addressed?

Coordinating with suppliers and handling customer inquiries can also become complex, especially as sales volume grows. To address these challenges, it is important to implement robust e-commerce platforms, maintain clear communication channels with suppliers and logistics partners, and regularly analyze sales data to anticipate demand. Staying organized and adaptable helps Online Distributors thrive in a fast-paced digital marketplace.

About ANIME Impulse
ANIME Impulse is one of North America’s most vibrant pop culture festivals, celebrating the best of anime, gaming, cosplay, and digital creators. As part of the IMPULSE Universe family of live experiences (including K-PLAY! FEST and Collectors Expo), we’re building a high-velocity merchandise ecosystem that extends fandom beyond the event, from exclusive convention drops to global retail distribution. We are actively expanding our footprint through major IP licensing collaborations, partnering with top anime studios, video game publishers, and general lifestyle brands to curate unique, high-demand capsule merchandise collections that resonate deeply with the masses.
The Role
We are looking for a data-driven, strategic, and highly organized Merchandise Distribution Specialist to own the lifecycle of our product distribution network. In this role, you will plan, coordinate, and execute both online and offline merchandise distribution strategies, ensuring our products move efficiently from our warehouse to fans worldwide.
This role is built for someone who can confidently manage and scale a high-volume pipeline, pushing a minimum of 100k SKUs per year. You will act as the critical bridge connecting our merchandise design, sourcing, and marketing teams to maximize sales velocity across all channels.
What You’ll Do
Omnichannel Distribution Strategy & Execution
  • Offline Distribution: Coordinate and expand relationships with key distribution partners, big-box stores, specialty brick-and-mortar retailers, and event-based retailers.
  • Online Distribution: Manage inventory allocation and sales health across the ANIME Impulse online store, our dedicated Amazon storefront, and external specialty online distributors.
  • High-Volume Management: Strategize and execute fulfillment and distribution tracking for a high-volume pipeline ($100\text{k}+$ SKUs annually).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with the Merchandise Design and Sourcing teams to align production schedules with distributor demand and launch timelines.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to provide inventory insights, ensuring promotional campaigns sync perfectly with product availability to maximize sales velocity.
Inventory Control & Logistical Operations
  • Oversee inventory allocations across physical events, e-commerce platforms, and wholesale/B2B channels.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and fulfillment teams on pick/pack timelines, inbound/outbound shipping logistics, and product readiness.
  • Track sell-through data, analyze distribution performance, and proactively identify restock opportunities or pipeline bottlenecks.
Event Merchandise Logistics
  • Plan product assortments and bulk inventory shipments for ANIME Impulse events and external distributor-carried events.
  • Coordinate POS setup needs, onsite restocking logistics, and inventory reconciliation post-event.
Who You Are
  • A Proven Volume Mover: Experience working in retail distribution, wholesale, or e-commerce operations, with a proven track record of handling high SKU volumes.
  • A Master Communicator: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently pitch, coordinate, and negotiate with internal teams and external retail partners.
  • Data & Logistics Obsessed: Highly proficient with spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets), ERPs, inventory management software, and e-commerce platforms.
  • Fandom Savvy: Passionate about anime, gaming, collectibles, or pop-culture merchandise; you understand what fans want and how they want to buy it.
  • Thorough & Proactive: Detail-oriented with a sharp eye for shipping compliance, routing guides, and supply chain timelines.
Bonus Points
  • Experience managing an Amazon Seller Central account or navigating big-box retail routing guides.
  • Familiarity with B2B distribution platforms and wholesale onboarding.
  • Prior experience in event-based retail or convention merchandise operations.
How to Apply
Send your resume and a short cover letter explaining your experience with logistics, high-volume inventory management, or retail distribution.
Move the volume. Scale the fandom. Join ANIME Impulse. ✨
