What is an online distributor?

Online distributors are businesses or individuals who sell products from manufacturers or wholesalers to retailers or directly to consumers through digital platforms. They handle the logistics of sourcing, storing, and shipping products, often using e-commerce websites or online marketplaces. Online distributors play a critical role in the supply chain by making products accessible to a wide audience and streamlining the purchasing process for both businesses and consumers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an online distributor?

To thrive as an Online Distributor, you need strong skills in inventory management, digital marketing, sales, and an understanding of e-commerce platforms, typically supported by experience or coursework in business or supply chain management. Marketing Operations & Sales Support Manager (Canada )- Flooring Distributor

Just Sales Jobs

Burlington, ON

CA$90K - CA$105K/yr

Full-time

Medical, PTO

Re-posted 20 hours ago

Job description

As a Marketing Operations & Sales Support Manager, you will lead the commercialization of marketing and product launches for a luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring distributor operating in Canada, translating brand strategy and marketing assets developed by the U.S. and global teams into field-ready pricing, tools, launches, samples, displays, and communications for the Canadian sales team and dealer network. This is not a quota-carrying sales role — there is no new business development, no account management, and no revenue quota attached to the position. You will work daily with the National Sales Manager, the General Manager, procurement, customer service, and shipping in Canada, with a dotted-line relationship into the U.S. marketing team. The role supports the Canadian market broadly — the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions, Western Canada, and a growing Quebec market — from a single Burlington, Ontario office. This is an existing position reporting to the General Manager / Managing Director, Canada, with a dotted line to the U.S. VP of Marketing.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $90,000 – $105,000 CAD - This is a salary-only position.
  • Company-paid health benefits
  • Laptop, cell phone, and expense account provided
  • 15 vacation days
  • 10 sick days
  • Mileage and expenses reimbursed for occasional client visits (no monthly car allowance)

The Company & Culture

Our client was founded approximately 53 years ago and is an established, family-owned business operating as part of a global group with operations across the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Europe. The Canadian operation employs 18 people locally, based in Burlington, Ontario. The company designs luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring products, which are manufactured by third-party partners internationally, and sells through a dealer and contractor network across Canada. The product sits in the "affordable premium" category — positioned between commodity flooring and higher-cost natural products — and is used by dealers to trade customers up rather than compete purely on price. Notable accounts include Carpet One Buying Group, Best Buy Canada, and Pet Valu. The culture is small, close-knit, entrepreneurial, and deliberately informal — every door is open and everyone is within reach. Coaching-oriented leadership, average employee tenure of 5–10 years, and under 10% turnover.

Office Location & Territory

  • Head office: Burlington, Ontario, Canada
  • Work arrangement: Office-based, 5 days per week (Monday to Friday) — no hybrid or remote option
  • Territory supported: Canada-wide — Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions, Western Canada, and Quebec (currently limited, with a planned push into the French-Canadian market within approximately 2 years)
  • This is not a field sales or client-facing territory role
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week — no evening or weekend client calls required
  • Overnight travel: Occasional, approximately 5–10% (roughly 2–3 times per year) for trade shows, training, and select client visits, plus approximately one week in the U.S. during onboarding

Experience, Background & Education Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in sales enablement, sales support, marketing operations, marketing communications, or commercial operations
  • Wholesale or distribution background required — experience with a multi-SKU catalogue, a dealer or retailer network, and a marketing-to-sales support function
  • Industry experience is preferred, not required. Construction and building-products supply is preferred (flooring, building materials, kitchen, bath, tile, countertop, décor, plumbing/HVAC/electrical wholesale, home improvement, interior-finish brands), but any wholesale distributor with a comparable multi-SKU, dealer-network workflow will be considered regardless of product category
  • Demonstrated ability to translate marketing and brand messaging into field-ready sales tools and presentation-ready material
  • Demonstrated project ownership involving real logistics — product launches, trade shows, road shows, shipping, venue, and customer coordination
  • University or college degree required
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle required
  • Business acumen — comfort reading a P&L and understanding cross-functional impact — is a strong differentiator, though not a strict requirement

Technical Skills

  • CRM — Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Microsoft PowerPoint and Word — Intermediate
  • Microsoft Excel and Google Drive — Basic
  • SharePoint experience is an asset
  • Comfortable running online demos

The Product

  • Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring products, sold through a dealer and contractor network across Canada in the affordable-premium category

Prospective Customers / Industry Focus

  • Design-focused flooring retailers and growth-oriented independent dealers (primary)
  • Mid-market commercial accounts and professional flooring contractors (secondary)
  • Designers and specifiers who influence flooring choices (influencer)
  • Primary internal stakeholders: National Sales Manager, General Manager, and the U.S. marketing team

Competitive Advantages

  • Affordable-premium market position between commodity flooring and higher-cost natural products, giving dealers a differentiation and margin-lift tool
  • Design-forward product range supported by centralized U.S. and global marketing and creative infrastructure
  • Established relationships with major retail and buying-group accounts

Typical Day & Duties

  • 50% Administrative / Execution Duties
  • 50% Leadership / Enablement Duties
  • 0% New Business Development
  • 0% Account Management

Core responsibilities include leading Canadian product launches end to end; adapting U.S. and global marketing assets for the Canadian market (pricing, SKUs, inventory, technical documents, installation guides); managing the sample library and showroom display programs; leading internal and external communications on pricing, promotions, and policy changes; managing the Canadian marketing program and budget; building sales presentations and delivering product and installation training; and coordinating lead flow and CRM reporting for the sales team.

Leads

This is not a lead-generation or prospecting role. The position coordinates inbound lead flow — from the website, call-ins, and showroom activity — through to the field sales team, and does not carry personal sales or lead-generation targets.

Overnight Travel

Approximately 5–10% — roughly 2 to 3 times per year for trade shows, training, and select client visits, plus approximately one week in the U.S. during onboarding (typically in the first or second week).

Support & Training

  • Approximately one week of structured onboarding based in Burlington, touching every function of the business
  • Approximately one additional week with the U.S. marketing team (typically in week 1 or 2 of employment)
  • Ongoing participation in regular calls with the U.S. marketing team
  • Expected ramp-up period of approximately 2–3 months to full effectiveness

Why You Should Apply

  • Stable, salary-only compensation with genuine work-life balance — standard 37.5-hour week, no evening or weekend client calls
  • A high-influence mandate with real ownership — this role sits at the center of fixing known cross-departmental communication and process gaps
  • Small, entrepreneurial, informal culture with low turnover (under 10%) and long average tenure (5–10 years)
  • Broad cross-functional exposure — procurement, inventory, logistics, customer service, and P&L — within a global group, creating a credible path toward general manager or operations leadership roles
  • Company-paid health benefits, laptop, cell phone, and expense account provided
