Job description

FUNCTION: Supervisory librarian of library public services.

Essential Job Functions:                                      
  • Supervises the performance of all public service functions, including reference services, circulation services and reserves/periodicals services. Implement the training, scheduling and evaluation of all public services personnel including student library assistants.
  • Supervise the acquisition of library books, databases, periodicals and microfilm and the expenditure of the public services acquisitions budget.
  • Provide direct assistance to students, faculty, staff and the general public including performing research, database searching, location of books and fulfilling other research needs in person, by phone, and remotely using email and chat reference services, use of SOS and Blackboard functions.
  • Develop and conduct information literacy classes, embedded librarianship duties, print and electronic library research guides, online interactive tutorials using Articulate 365 or similar, and assignments that incorporate ACRL information literacy standards.
  • Serve as library liaison for designated departments and campus .
  • Participate in the Embedded Librarian program to provide library services and information to classes through Blackboard.
  • Evaluate library materials for deaccessioning and  work with Technical Services to remove deaccessioned materials from the library's online catalog.
  • Maintain records and statistical data on library functions and services as appropriate.
  • Serve on library and college-wide committees and engage with college service opportunities.
  • Participate in interviewing and make recommendations on hiring of new personnel to the Director.
