About the Role

CAREXST, in partnership with PATHS, LLC, is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Oncology Financial Navigator to support cancer patients at client facility(ies) in Toms River, NJ.

Patients undergoing cancer treatment often face significant financial challenges that can impact care outcomes. In this role, you will help identify potential financial barriers, educate patients on available assistance programs, and guide them through insurance and billing processes. Your work will directly contribute to improving patient comfort, access to care, and overall health outcomes during a critical time.

CAREXST has aligned with Physician and Tactical Healthcare Services (PATHS), LLC, a proven leader in financial advocacy and healthcare revenue cycle services. Founded in 2000, PATHS employs approximately 400 professionals across four offices in PA, NJ, and DE, serving more than 100 healthcare clients. Together, CAREXST and PATHS bring the expertise, resources, and infrastructure needed to deliver a successful oncology financial navigation program.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist oncology patients with applying for pharmaceutical assistance and medical financial aid programs
  • Counsel patients on navigating medical bills, insurance coverage, and available financial resources
  • Evaluate and determine the most appropriate sources of payment for services rendered
  • Collaborate closely with patients, physicians, nursing staff, pharmaceutical companies, and insurance providers
  • Maintain accurate documentation while ensuring compliance with healthcare and privacy regulations
  • Travel to additional client facilities as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:

Training Requirement

  • Complete paid training in Allentown, PA (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM) for 3–4 weeks
  • Mileage reimbursement provided for training-related travel

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and current car insurance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Trustworthy, detail-oriented, and goal-driven
  • Comfortable working in hospital and clinical environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • High school diploma or GED required

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in a healthcare facility
  • Insurance billing, Medicaid eligibility, or revenue cycle experience
  • Patient advocacy or social work background
  • Oncology or specialty care experience is a plus

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and interacting with patients
  • Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to work in hospital and clinical settings
  • Reliable transportation required
