Job description

Division/Department: Branson Scenic Railway (BSR) / Entertainment

Job Title: Onboard Entertainer/Musician

Reports To: Head Conductor

Type of position: Non-Exempt / Hourly

Employee Classification: Seasonal

Location: Branson, Missouri

Compensation: $18 - $23/hour. This position is eligible to receive tips.

Job Summary: The Musician/Onboard Entertainer travels from car to car onboard a moving train providing entertainment and customer service for passengers during rail excursions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for entertaining passengers onboard general excursions and specialty trains when requested.
  • Time management is necessary onboard the train to ensure that all guests have equal amount of interaction and entertainment.
  • Entertain passengers by curating songs (when applicable) based on specialty celebrations, ie. Birthdays, Honeymoon, Anniversary etc.
  • Assist with boarding and de-boarding train cars when necessary.
  • Comply with BSR policy, procedures and safety program including Safety Rules, Operating Rules and participation in ongoing safety training/regular daily safety meetings with onboard staff.
  • Support onboard train crew with passenger customer service by communicating the needs of guests when necessary, answering questions when able, and providing family friendly entertainment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Skill and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Two years of entertainment experience
  • Ability to play an acoustic instrument, preferably a fiddle, guitar, or banjo preferred
  • Must be able to interact effectively with coworkers and customers.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule with morning, night, weekend and holiday hours.

Work Environment:

  • Work on and off the train in varied terrain in all weather during both daylight and dark hours.
  • Must be able to work on a moving train.
  • Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 0-100 degrees.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Works directly with the public.
