What you can expect

Location:

Territories varied through 9 counties in central NC

The Duke HomeCare, Hospice and Infusion Services team is active in delivering exemplary care for each patient to ensure an excellent patient experience, every time. This PRN hospice RN role focuses on providing compassionate, home-based and on-call care for patients and families requiring end-of-life support.

Schedule:

  • PRN 8 & 12 hour shifts; 1 p.m.-9 p.m. and/or 5 p.m.-5 a.m./8 p.m.-8 a.m.

How you will make an impact
  • Provide professional hospice nursing care in home or alternate settings using the nursing process and regulatory standards.
  • Assess patient conditions, manage symptoms, and communicate significant changes to physicians and care teams.
  • Educate patients and families on disease progression, medications, and end-of-life care planning.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care, support discharge planning, and ensure quality outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, ensure compliance, and support performance improvement initiatives.
What you will need
  • Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing required; BSN encouraged after two years.
  • Current RN license in North Carolina or compact state.
  • CPR certification (American Heart Association).
  • Minimum two years of med-surgical, critical care, or home health/hospice experience required.
  • Prior hospice experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, travel for patient care, and support on-call responsibilities.
