Location: Odessa, TX

ZL Chemicals Ltd. is a leading provider of advanced chemical solutions for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and energy applications. We develop and manufacture high-performance friction reducers and other specialty chemical products designed to improve our customers’ operational efficiency, reliability, and performance.


Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled Senior Field Technician to support operations at frac sites across the region. This position provides advanced field support, leads equipment troubleshooting and maintenance activities, trains customer personnel and junior technicians, and ensures the optimal performance of ZL Chemicals’ mobile chemical treatment units.


The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently in demanding field environments and responding to urgent operational issues. Frac operations may run 24 hours a day, so this position may require extended shifts, overnight work, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability. All schedules will comply with applicable employment and safety requirements. Initial technical and operational training will take place in Houston, TX. Candidates must be available to travel to Houston for the required training.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced day-to-day technical support to customers operating ZL Chemicals’ mobile chemical treatment units at frac sites
  • Serve as the primary field contact for equipment-related technical and operational issues
  • Diagnose complex equipment failures and implement timely corrective actions to minimize downtime
  • Lead the installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment, including:
    • Flow meters
    • Pressure transducers
    • Level and rotation sensors
    • Electric motors, pumps, and augers
    • Electrical and control systems
    • Data acquisition systems
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mobile chemical treatment units
  • Provide operational training and technical guidance to customer frac crews and junior field technicians
  • Build strong working relationships with frac crew personnel, customer representatives, and internal teams
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend operational or technical improvements
  • Ensure equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with company procedures and safety standards
  • Complete preventative maintenance records, service documentation, and equipment inspection reports accurately
  • Prepare and submit detailed daily frac-site reports in a timely manner
  • Escalate significant equipment, safety, or operational issues to the Regional Supervisor
  • Communicate customer feedback and improvement recommendations to management
  • Support equipment mobilization, commissioning, and demobilization at field locations
  • Assist with inventory control and ensure that required tools, spare parts, and supplies are available


Qualifications

  • At least 3–5 years of experience in an oil and gas service-based field technical role
  • Demonstrated experience working at frac sites within the U.S. oil and gas industry
  • Strong hands-on experience disassembling, diagnosing, repairing, and reassembling motors, pumps, flow meters, level sensors, pressure sensors, and related equipment
  • Solid understanding of electrical principles, circuits, instrumentation, control systems, and data acquisition systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, and troubleshooting documentation
  • Experience leading field activities or mentoring junior technicians is strongly preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions and work independently under pressure
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in fast-paced and physically demanding field environments
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel extensively to job sites across the region and beyond, with approximately 70% travel
  • Availability to work extended shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations as operational needs require
