What does an On Call Cigna Behavioral Health professional do?

An On Call Cigna Behavioral Health professional provides mental health support and crisis intervention services to Cigna members outside of regular business hours. They assess clients' needs, offer guidance, and may connect individuals to appropriate resources or schedule follow-up care. These professionals often include licensed therapists, counselors, or social workers who work remotely or in clinical settings. Their goal is to ensure members receive timely mental health support whenever it's needed.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an On Call Cigna Behavioral Health professional?

To thrive as an On Call Cigna Behavioral Health professional, you need a background in mental health counseling or social work, relevant licensure (such as LCSW, LPC, or LMHC), and experience in crisis assessment. Familiarity with case management systems, telehealth platforms, and electronic health records is typically required. Excellent active listening, empathy, and problem-solving skills are essential for effectively supporting clients in crisis situations. These competencies ensure that clients receive timely, high-quality care and support during critical moments, contributing to positive outcomes and organizational trust.

What are the main challenges faced by On Call Cigna Behavioral Health professionals during overnight or weekend shifts?

On Call Cigna Behavioral Health professionals often manage urgent mental health cases during times when regular providers may not be available, such as overnight or on weekends.
