Job description

Position Summary:
This role works on campus to perform bookkeeping and benefits related tasks as a member of the Finance team. Additionally, this role interfaces with internal and external customers on tasks related to Finance and provides administrative support to this function.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Process weekly in-person and mailed in donations and ensure that information is captured in the church database and accounting software.
  • Process other on campus receivables on a weekly basis including the sales of resources and merchandise for various ministries.
  • Be familiar with the weekly payables process using the church accounting software to function as a back-up for the inputting of payables and the weekly printing of checks for signature and mailing. These include payments made by check, online, ACH transfer, and electronic filing of supporting documentation such as Purchase Requests and invoices.
  • Become familiar with the processing of credit card purchases and payments which includes the transferring of the activity details from the credit card company into the church accounting software to function as a back-up.
  • Interface with the church staff to address questions related to giving, sales of books, registrations, payable and the use of church credit cards.
  • Provide support in the areas of payroll and provide direct support in the areas of benefits administration, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, disability, and life insurance.
  • Supports the Finance and Systems Director to maintain the integrity of the church donor database regularly, correcting duplicate or mismatched profiles between merchant profiles and donor databases.
  • Maintain accurate donor records within the database including contact data, family configuration, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of contribution statements.
  • Manage, address needs, and rectify issues submitted via email in Finance@ inbox and AP@ inbox.
  • Any additional duties as assigned

Work Week: Mon-Thurs; 12-15 hours per week
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of two years' related experience and/or training
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Full charge bookkeeping experience

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Able to build a culture of leadership development that abundantly meets the needs for this area and other areas as individuals experience God's call in their lives.
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration within the Finance team and the entire organization. Communications with members of the church body who have questions related to their giving which need to be handled with both discretion and sensitivity.
  • Strong bookkeeping background to facilitate the efficient processing of financial transactions.
  • Ability to gain a working knowledge of a wide range of finance and administrative software or online portals which are used in the processing of credit cards, payments, and governmental agencies. These include Squareup, Stripe, Bill.com, QuickBooks Online and other similar companies.
  • Able to adapt quickly to change, both internal and external, as change is occurring at an increasing rate and is essential to meet the needs of the church body
  • Familiarity & experience MS Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, etc.
  • Familiarity & experience Google Business Suite, including but not limited to Sheet, Doc, Drive, Calendar
  • Familiarity & experience with General Ledger (GL) accounting software & 10-Key calculator
  • Proficient in basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, interest & discounts)
  • Ability to carry out tasks from various forms of instructions & deal/provide solutions to issues that arise

Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates:
  • CPA license preferred.

Spiritual Requirements:
  • Regular involvement in RLC activities and events
  • Signed acknowledgement of Real Life Church's "Statement of Faith" and "Staff Covenant/Lifestyle Agreement" forms.
  • Signed acknowledgement to policies and procedures as stated in the RLC employee handbook
  • Exhibits a personal devotional life that is consistent and meaningful.
  • Practices biblical stewardship in their personal finances an applies those truths to the church's management of all resources.
  • Ability to serve in the pastoral responsibilities at RLC; such as pastoral care, pastor on call and additional pastoral duties
  • Be certified and trained to lead funerals, premarital classes and workshops, and officiate weddings.
  • Ability to assist and guide people through various life stages and transitions.
