RN – Mother Baby / Postpartum

Location: Neptune, NJ 07754
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM | 3 × 12-hour shifts
Weekend: Every other weekend required
Holiday Requirement: 3 out of 6 holidays required
Call: None

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Mother Baby/Postpartum to provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to postpartum mothers and newborns. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of Mother Baby/Postpartum experience, with strong knowledge of newborn care and postpartum nursing.

The RN will work collaboratively with physicians and the healthcare team to assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, provide therapeutic nursing interventions, advocate for patients and families, and evaluate patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and monitor postpartum patients and newborns.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to Mother Baby/Postpartum patients.
  • Monitor maternal and newborn conditions and identify changes requiring intervention.
  • Provide newborn care and support maternal recovery following delivery.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and nursing standards.
  • Perform therapeutic nursing interventions and evaluate patient responses.
  • Educate mothers and families regarding postpartum recovery, newborn care, breastfeeding, and discharge needs.
  • Collaborate with physicians, lactation professionals, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Advocate for patients and their families.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
  • Follow evidence-based nursing practices, hospital policies, and applicable safety standards.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Provide compassionate, professional, and patient-centered care.
Required Clinical Experience
  • 3+ years of Mother Baby / Postpartum nursing experience required.
  • Postpartum/Mother Baby experience strongly preferred over Labor & Delivery experience.
  • Experience with:
    • Mother Baby/Postpartum
    • Labor & Delivery
    • Antepartum care
    • Newborn care
    • OR experience

Preferred Experience: 5 years

Required Certifications
  • BLS – AHA required
  • NRP required
  • ACLS required
  • AWHONN Advanced or C-EFM required

Additional certification requirements may vary by facility.

License & Education
  • Active New Jersey RN license OR Multi-State Compact RN license required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • All required licenses and certifications must remain active and current throughout the assignment.
Additional Assignment Details
  • No on-call requirement
  • No floating requirement
  • Every other weekend required

  • Navy blue scrubs preferred/provided when applicable
