Job description

Job Summary:

The Electrical / Control Engineer is a hands-on role responsible for the integration, programming, and troubleshooting of automated industrial equipment. This hybrid position combines electrical expertise (hardwiring, panel assembly, and system installation) with control systems skills (PLC/HMI programming, automation logic, and commissioning). The engineer will support projects from initial design and development through onsite installation, debugging, and post-installation customer support, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of industrial machinery.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design and create detailed electrical wiring diagrams and circuits using AutoCAD software
  • Select any electrical components needed for each project
  • Follow up on orders, perform hardwiring, panel assembly, and field installation of electrical and control systems
  • Establish and ensure correct conditions and sequencing through PLC and HMI programming to meet customer standards
  • Set up, establish, and correct proper communication between robots, welders, and all safety components, through either hard wiring or communication modules like CC-LINK, DEVICE-NET, COMPO-BUS, COMPO-NET, and PROFI-BUS.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and company quality procedures
  • Maintain accurate documentation of wiring, configurations, and control programs
  • On-site installation and support (approximately 20% currently)

Education & Experience:

  • Associates' or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or related technical field preferred
  • Equivalent combination of hands-on experience, technical training, and demonstrated skills will be considered in place of formal education
  • Typically 5-10 years of experience in industrial automation, controls, or electrical engineering.
  • Experience with FANUC, Yasukawa, and Motoman robots is a plus

Skills and Competences:

  • PLC programming and HMI configuration (Mitsubishi, Omron, Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
  • Hands-on installation, testing, and commissioning experience
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to plan ahead
  • Possess strong analytical skills to identify the root causes of equipment failures and propose effective solutions proactively
