Omnichannel Cpg information

What is an omnichannel CPG professional?

An Omnichannel CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) professional manages the strategy and execution for selling consumer goods across multiple integrated channels, such as physical stores, e-commerce platforms, and mobile apps. Their role is to ensure a seamless and consistent customer experience, regardless of how or where a customer interacts with a brand. Responsibilities often include coordinating marketing, sales, supply chain, and technology teams to optimize product availability and brand presence across all channels. Omnichannel CPG professionals analyze consumer data to tailor strategies for each channel and improve overall business performance.

How does an omnichannel CPG professional collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless customer experience?

An Omnichannel CPG professional works closely with marketing, sales, supply chain, and IT teams to align product availability, promotional strategies, and customer engagement across all channels—both online and offline. Regular meetings and shared digital tools help coordinate campaigns and inventory management, ensuring customers have a consistent and integrated experience. This collaboration is essential to quickly address challenges such as inventory discrepancies, promotional conflicts, or shifts in consumer demand. By fostering open communication, Omnichannel CPG professionals help drive unified brand messaging and operational efficiency.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an omnichannel CPG manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Omnichannel CPG Manager, you need expertise in retail strategy, data analysis, and CPG market dynamics, typically supported by a degree in business, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with CRM platforms, e-commerce systems, and analytics tools like NielsenIQ or IRI is crucial. Strong project management, collaboration, and communication skills help drive cross-functional initiatives and build retailer relationships. These competencies are vital for seamlessly integrating online and offline channels to optimize sales and enhance the consumer experience.

Job description

The Opportunity

We are seeking a senior transformation leader from Big Four/MBB, SaaS Value Advisory, corporate strategy and transformation function (or similar) to spearhead our most strategic Retail and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) accounts.

Dedicated Strategic Focus: This executive-level role is structured as a high-leverage Individual Contributor (IC) position. It is designed for an elite strategy practitioner who wants to directly own and deepen relationships with Tier 1 CPG and Retail giants (think Mars, Target, PepsiCo), focusing entirely on market-facing value realization rather than internal practice management or administrative operational requirements.

Partnering with Enterprise Sales and Product Engineering, you will act as the principal strategic architect for these massive footprints. By leveraging Celonis-the foundational context layer for enterprise AI-you will translate omnichannel supply chain strategies into autonomous, data-driven execution, moving clients from static slide decks to realized operational value.

The Impact You'll Make
1. C-Suite Advisory & Value Architecture
  • Peer-to-Peer Advisory: Partner directly with Retail and CPG C-suite executives (CEOs, COOs, CFOs, Chief Supply Chain Officers) to align macro pressures-margin compression, omnichannel fulfillment complexity, inventory optimization, and inflationary pressures-with execution-level transformation roadmaps.
  • Map Enterprise Digital Twins: Oversee the deployment of the Celonis Process Intelligence Graph to build systemic, end-to-end operational models tracking the flow of goods and data from supplier tier to manufacturing plant, distribution center, and ultimate point-of-sale (POS).
  • Orchestrate $100M+ Business Cases: Direct the formulation of board-ready Celonis Value Assessments, delivering the economic justification, multi-million-dollar working capital reductions (freeing up trapped cash in inventory, DSO, and DPO), and logistics OPEX returns required to greenlight massive digital investments.
2. Transformation Leadership & Ecosystem Governance
  • Steer Enterprise Transformations: Serve as the executive sponsor for high-visibility, Celonis-driven operating model overhauls for Fortune 500 consumer value chain clients, guiding them from diagnostic discovery to closed-loop automation.
  • Architect Celonis Centers of Excellence (CoEs): Design and establish corporate-wide CoEs, defining the target operating models, governance structures, and enablement frameworks needed to embed data-driven decision-making into client cultures.
  • Untangle Systemic Friction: Lead cross-functional teams to resolve complex operational leakages where siloed enterprise stacks (SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Retail, Blue Yonder, Manhattan Associates WMS) collide-specifically optimizing Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), warehouse management, and reverse logistics/returns.
3. Commercial Growth & Scaled Innovation
  • De-Risk High-Value Sales Cycles: Convert punishing retail compliance mandates-such as OTIF (On-Time In-Full) penalties, trade promotion leakage, and vendor deductions-into automated, visual compliance audits within the Celonis platform, transforming abstract revenue loss into a compelling business case that accelerates C-suite sign-off.
  • Commercialize Next-Gen "Process + AI" Use Cases: Direct the integration of real-time industrial telemetry (RFID tracking, automated distribution center IoT, e-commerce demand signals) into Celonis, translating complex data structures into high-margin, executive-ready offerings like predictive out-of-stock prevention and dynamic markdown optimization.
  • Productize Retail & CPG Value Plays: Codify repeatable client successes into scalable Celonis apps and action templates, establishing a library of industry-specific intellectual property (e.g., Perfect Order Rate maximization, phantom inventory eradication) that drives rapid time-to-value, net-new ARR, and account expansion.
The Profile We Are Looking For
  • Consulting Pedigree: 12+ years of progressive experience within a Big Four or elite management consulting firm, currently operating at the Director, Managing Director, or Partner level.
  • Retail & CPG Vertical Expertise: Deep, authoritative knowledge of the Retail or Consumer Goods ecosystem (Omnichannel Supply Chain, Merchandising, Logistics, Warehouse Operations, or Category Management), with a track record of leading multi-million-dollar transformation programs for global brands.
  • SaaS & Process Intelligence Vision: Strong conceptual understanding of Process Mining paradigms. Experience with Celonis is highly advantageous, but a proven ability to leverage enterprise software to reshape business processes is required.
  • Architectural Fluency: Comprehensive understanding of the modern retail and supply chain enterprise stack (SAP, Oracle Retail, Manhattan, Blue Yonder/JDA) and emerging data/AI paradigms (Azure AI, AWS, LLMs). Note: You do not need to write code or SQL queries, but you must possess the technical fluency to direct data scientists, engineers, and solution architects.
  • Commercial Acumen: Proven capability in client origination, relationship management, and driving account growth through value-based selling.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems. An MBA from a top-tier business school is highly preferred.

Visa sponsorship is not offered for this role.
