Electrical Engineer - Okuma Factory Automation (OFA)

As an Electrical Engineer - OFA, you will play a critical role in designing, integrating, testing, and supporting electrical systems that power Okuma's automation and manufacturing solutions.

This position combines electrical design, automation integration, troubleshooting, and project support to ensure the successful implementation of advanced manufacturing systems. Working closely with internal teams, distributors, partners, and customers, you will help develop reliable, cost-effective solutions that meet both technical and business objectives.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Design, integrate, and support electrical systems for Okuma and partner automation solutions.
  • Develop and maintain electrical documentation, including functional specifications, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and installation instructions.
  • Support sales, service, distributors, and integration partners by providing technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Troubleshoot electromechanical systems, investigate root causes, implement engineering changes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage project schedules, component selection, system testing, and commissioning activities to ensure successful project execution.
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-7 years of electrical design experience.
  • Experience developing electrical designs for industrial machinery, automation systems, or manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as required.
  • Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
Technical Expertise
  • Experience with electrical system design, component selection, and system integration.
  • Ability to progress from problem definition to fully documented and tested solutions.
  • Experience troubleshooting electromechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, motor drives, and industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience processing engineering changes and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of cost control, cost reduction, sourcing, and component standardization practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards, including ISO, OSHA, ANSI, and robotic safety requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw sound conclusions.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
  • Software programming or coding experience.
  • Experience with PLC programming and motor drive programming.
  • Experience with robotics, automation systems, and manufacturing integration.
  • Experience supporting machine tool, industrial automation, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Project management experience in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • Strong training and presentation skills with the ability to effectively support internal teams, distributors, and customers.
