What are OKRs?

OKRs, or Objectives and Key Results, are a goal-setting framework used by organizations to define measurable goals and track their outcomes. The 'Objective' is a clearly defined goal, while the 'Key Results' are specific, measurable steps that indicate achievement of that goal. OKRs help align teams, encourage focus, and increase transparency by making priorities clear across the organization. They are typically set quarterly and reviewed regularly to ensure progress is being made. Popularized by companies like Google, OKRs are now widely adopted in various industries for effective performance management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an OKR manager?

To thrive as an OKR Manager, you need expertise in strategic planning, organizational goal-setting, and performance management, often supported by experience in business operations or project management. Familiarity with OKR software tools like Workboard or Gtmhub, and certifications in Agile or OKR methodologies, are typically beneficial. Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills help drive alignment and motivate cross-functional teams. These abilities are crucial for effectively setting, tracking, and achieving organizational objectives that drive business success.

How does an OKR specialist typically collaborate with different departments to drive organizational alignment?

As an OKR specialist, you'll work closely with leadership, department heads, and individual teams to facilitate goal-setting sessions and ensure everyone understands the organization's priorities. You'll help translate high-level objectives into actionable key results for each team, fostering clear communication and accountability. Regular check-ins and progress reviews are a key part of the role, allowing you to support teams in overcoming obstacles and keeping initiatives on track. This position requires strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to cross-functional collaboration.

While OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) focus on setting and tracking strategic goals within organizations, Data Analysts concentrate on analyzing data to support decision-making. Both roles are essential in modern workplaces but serve different functions—OKRs drive strategic alignment, whereas Data Analysts provide insights through data analysis.

Job description

Description
BDR Solutions, LLC (BDR) supports the U.S. Federal Government in successfully achieving its mission and goals. Our service and solution delivery starts with understanding each client's end-state, and then seamlessly integrating within each Agency's organization to improve and enhance business and technical operations and deployments.
BDR is seeking a Senior Product Manager to join our growing team! This is a remote position. This position requires U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (Tier 2 Moderate Risk) clearance.
Role Overview
The Senior Product Manager owns platform product management activities, including Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), product roadmaps, backlog management, release planning, customer engagement, and outcome-oriented delivery. This role is responsible for ensuring customer experience data is captured and acted upon as customers move through intake, onboarding, and platform use.
Responsibilities
  • Establish and operate a platform product management framework covering OKR alignment, evolving roadmaps, backlog creation and grooming, sprint planning and execution, release planning, and outcome-oriented reporting.
  • Lead development, publication, and maintenance of product roadmaps, including customer experience milestones, platform-level epics, team swim-lanes, and identification and resolution of dependencies and risks.
  • Define and run the OKR process at both platform and team level, setting cycles, collection standards, review cadences, and cross-team roll-ups.
  • Facilitate product management ceremonies including Scrum-of-Scrums, Sprint Demos, Quarterly Reviews, Roadmap Reviews, and Product Planning sessions.
  • Establish and implement product documentation standards for vision, strategy, business cases, product briefs, release notes, and adoption guides.
  • Develop product definition and customer education materials, including positioning materials that align capabilities to customer needs.
  • Build and maintain an understanding of current and prospective customers through persona development, use-case identification, business opportunity discovery, and ongoing collection and triage of customer feedback.
  • Establish customer feedback collection processes across intake, onboarding, and platform use to continuously inform the product roadmap.
  • Measure and report on product operations health and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support FinOps activities by aligning cloud spend with budgets and informing prioritization efforts.

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of product management experience, including at least 4 years leading product management for enterprise data, analytics, or SaaS platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience running OKR programs and Agile product ceremonies at scale across multiple teams or a full platform.
  • Experience building and maintaining product roadmaps, backlogs, and release plans for technical platforms.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Tier 2 (Moderate Risk) background investigation.
  • U.S. Citizenship or authorization to work in the United States.

Desired Skills and Qualifications Certified
  • Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, or equivalent product certification.
  • Experience with federal health data, VA Data & Analytics (D&A), or Veterans Health Administration (VHA) environments.
  • Familiarity with FinOps principles and cloud cost management.
  • Experience specifically with data platform, data governance, or analytics products (as distinct from general SaaS product management).
  • Security Requirement Public Trust position requiring a Tier 2 (Moderate Risk) background investigation.
  • Work Environment Standard office/remote-office environment with extended periods of computer use.
  • Must be able to participate in real-time virtual meetings during core East Coast business hours and, as applicable, extended production-support windows.
  • Occasional travel within the Continental United States as required for program meetings.

This position is contingent upon contract award.
The salary compensation range for this position is $140,000 - 200,000. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
In addition, U.S Citizenship is required. Select applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and be able to obtain a government-granted security clearance. Individuals may also be subject to a background investigation including, but not limited to criminal history, employment and education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness.
