Overview/ Job Responsibilities

Entarian is looking for a Senior Help Desk Specialist / Ashore/Afloat Installer for the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Ordnance Information System (OIS) to provide technical expertise on a mission-critical program whose purpose is to develop, modernize, enhance, operate, and maintain services for OIS mission critical systems.

This role works with NAVSUP OIS Customer Fleet Support Center/OIS Retail Partial Connectivity and Alteration Install Team (AIT) as well as the Customer Support Center (CSC) to provide Tier II support to OIS end users across the fleet.

This position is based on site in Yorktown, VA, and will require up to 30% travel (CONUS/OCONUS) for on-site installations and fleet support.

Primary Responsibilities: 

The Senior Help Desk Specialist / Ashore/Afloat Installer primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide Tier II and potentially assist with Tier III support as well as provide on site assistance visits for the purposes of preventative maintenance and checkups on the Ordnance Information System CONUS/OCONUS.
  • Working directly with site personnel to resolve problems concerning the use of the OIS hardware, software, and applications (including application support, corrective actions, access, and procedural support), engaging other functional teams as required to provide solution of problems.
  • Providing support in OIS application analysis, design, and testing and coordinating with OIS teams on ordnance directive updates to determine impacts, if any.
  • Coordinating OIS reconciliations and resolve Out of Balances.
  • As part of the CSC, responding to help desk tickets across OIS, to include access requests, Navy 311, application issues, etc. 
  • As part of the AIT, performing shipboard installations/updates through completion of Ship Maintenance (SHIPMAIN) processes. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the active measurement of OIS performance indices, identifying issues and taking corrective action to resolve.
  • Verifying functional operation of OIS Retail Partial Connect in accordance with current System Operational Verification Test (SOVT).
  • Performing deploy/install OIS Retail Partial Connectivity Installation tasks/services to the approved sites, including Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES), Integrated Shipboard Network System (ISNS) OIS ship installs/re-install where new hardware is being installed, and the Marine Corps tactical network. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Installation pre-planning and communication with install points of contact.
    • Following all the approved Navy procedures (including Technical Specification TS9090-310G Change 1) and performing tasks for ship installation approval, including, but not limited to SHIPMAIN process, Regional Maintenance and Modernization Coordination Office (RMMCO) process, Navy Data Environment (NDE) process, etc.
    • Following the OIS installation guides and checklists.
    • Communicating with Ship Personnel and other appropriate points of contact.
    • Acquiring, setting up and configuring hardware/software and performing software debugging, as necessary.
    • Shipping of appropriate hardware/software.
    • Testing of hardware/software.
    • Training of shipboard IT staff and support external application training.
  • Other duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have DOD Secret level clearance to start; U.S. Citizen required only for Federal Clearance Requirement 
  • Certification Requirement: Directive 8570.1/8140 - IAT II: Security+
  • BA/BS (Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other) or equivalent years' experience and 5+ years of prior relevant experience
  • General experience includes information systems development and other work in the client/server field, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing and a positive customer service attitude.
  • Troubleshooting -- Determining causes of operating errors and identifying solutions to fix the errors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PC operating systems, as well as networking and mail standards and supervision of help desk employees.
  • Experience in help desk management in a multi-server environment.
  • Experience developing SOPs, checklists, and guides for end users.
  • Prior Military, preferably Navy, experience is a plus
  • Must be a self-starter, strong leader, and have the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledgeable of Navy Ordnance Information Systems.
  • Experience working on Navy Ashore/Afloat systems such as CANES, ISNS, COMPOSE, etc.
  • Afloat Navy IT / System Administration experience
  • Desired certifications: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or similar equivalent Cloud environment certification Cloud Architect, DevOps or SysOps Associate or Professional Certification
  • Desired certifications: CompTIA Server + certification or Windows Server 2008 (or newer) or Solaris 7 (or newer)
