Job description

Overview

The Deepwater Mechanic A is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing rotating and mechanical equipment in an offshore deepwater environment. This role supports safe and efficient facility operations through handson mechanical expertise, strict adherence to safety standards, and compliance with all customer and regulatory requirements.

The Mechanic A works closely with operations, maintenance, and marine personnel and must demonstrate strong technical skill, teamwork, and a safetyoriented mindset.

Candidates should be open to international rotational assignments on a 28day on / 28day off schedule, as required.

Responsibilities

Mechanical & Rotating Equipment

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair rotating and mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain turbine compressors, generators, gas and diesel generators, compressors, pumps, and other reciprocating equipment.
  • Test, calibrate, inspect, and maintain required mechanical equipment to ensure reliability and compliance.

Lifting, Crane & Marine Equipment

  • Perform safe lifting activities in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Conduct general crane inspections and basic crane maintenance.
  • Inspect and maintain lifesaving equipment.
  • Serve as lifeboatman and perform maintenance on lifeboats and fast rescue craft.

Safety, Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain a strong safetyoriented mindset at all times.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Complete all mandatory paperwork and documentation required by customers and government agencies.

Teamwork & Platform Support

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills in a teambased offshore environment.
  • Maintain organized work areas and properly managed platform systems.
  • Use basic computer systems for documentation, reporting, and maintenance records.
Qualifications
  • This position is for a new deepwater production platform that is under construction. This position will have an office schedule of 3 days in the office in Houston, TX and 2 days working remotely then it will transition to an international rotation schedule of 28x28 until the construction overseas is completed. Once the platform is sailed to its permanent home in the Gulf of America, the rotation schedule will be 21x21.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience working as a mechanic primarily offshore on a production platform
  • Solar turbine experience preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Crane certification required
  • Crane Inspector certification preferred
  • Medically fit for offshore work; ENG1 or equivalent international offshore medical certification
