The Field Service Engineer II will serve as a technical expert responsible for commissioning, troubleshooting, optimizing, and supporting Compressor Control Corporation products and turbomachinery control systems at customer sites. In this role, you will independently lead field service activities, provide advanced technical consultation, and support complex compressor, turbine, and process control applications. You will collaborate closely with customers, engineering, project management, and technical support teams to ensure successful system performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction throughout the equipment lifecycle.

You will report directly to the Senior Director of Field Service Engineering.

Travel via car will be required throughout the local Houston area, with additional travel by air throughout North America (United States and Canada) and internationally, including offshore and remote customer locations.

YOU MUST HAVE

• 3 or more years of experience commissioning, maintaining, troubleshooting, or supporting turbomachinery control systems (compressors, steam turbines, gas turbines, expanders, generators) or advanced industrial process control systems.
• Demonstrated experience with startup, commissioning, and optimization of industrial control systems in refinery, petrochemical, power generation, LNG, or oil & gas facilities.
• Experience interpreting P&IDs, electrical drawings, loop diagrams, and control system documentation.
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally, including offshore and remote customer locations (up to 70% travel).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

WE VALUE

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Turbomachinery Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong experience with PLC, DCS, HMI, and compressor control systems.
• Experience commissioning and troubleshooting rotating equipment and industrial automation systems.
• Knowledge of compressor anti-surge control, performance control, load sharing, and machinery protection systems.
• Experience with Honeywell, CCC, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Emerson, Yokogawa, ABB, or Schneider industrial control platforms.
• Strong analytical and root cause troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent customer-facing communication and technical presentation skills.
• Ability to lead field activities independently while mentoring less experienced engineers.
• Spanish language proficiency (spoken and written) is a plus.
• Experience working in refinery, petrochemical, LNG, pipeline, or power generation environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Independently lead commissioning activities including system checkout, instrumentation calibration, loop checks, communication testing, and system startup.
• Perform machinery testing, advanced control loop tuning, performance optimization, and troubleshooting of compressor, turbine, expander, and process control systems.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and process documentation.
• Apply advanced engineering principles and mathematical analysis to diagnose system issues and optimize turbomachinery performance.
• Perform thermodynamic calculations, machine performance analysis, and root cause investigations for complex operating issues.
• Provide advanced remote and on-site technical support, systems engineering, troubleshooting, and lifecycle service support.
• Lead customer training sessions for operations, engineering, and maintenance personnel on proper operation, maintenance, and optimization of CCC systems.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product Development, Technical Support, Sales, and Project Management to resolve complex customer issues and improve product performance.
• Develop detailed technical reports, commissioning documentation, field service records, and complete required administrative tasks including expense reporting and aftermarket support.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior Field Service Engineers while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the field service organization.
• Respond effectively to changing customer requirements and support additional field service responsibilities as assigned.
