Job description


JMT is seeking an energetic leader with an entrepreneurial spirit to serve as Office Leader for our Roanoke, VA office. The Office Leader is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the office, including staffing, business operations, marketing, and strategic planning. We are seeking an individual that can foster the development of our transportation; buildings and facilities; and water, environment and energy business in the Roanoke and surrounding areas.
Compensation for this position is $210k - $260k, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. We notice that we receive a wide variety of applicants and recognize that the person selected may be less experienced or more experienced. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
General
  • Serve as JMT's executive leader in the Roanoke area and surrounding markets, leading the collaboration, development and implementation of our strategic plan, and building, inspiring and supporting outstanding teams.

Marketing & Business Development
  • Maintain existing client relationships and develop new clients. Special interests include, but are not limited to, VDOT, regional transportation authorities, municipalities, and public works departments and Government agencies within the Roanoke Valley and surrounding areas.
  • Maintain relationship with clients to ensure satisfaction with JMT services.
  • Oversight and development of proposals, procurement schedules and business development activities in collaboration with marketing staff.

Project Oversight
  • Manage contracts and provide oversight of Project Managers.
  • Monitor and manage project financials, including project performance and invoicing.
  • Forecast administrative staffing, and facility needs for office.
  • Review the design and production work of the staff to ensure that it meets the highest professional standards and is in conformance with company standards, including ISO:9001-2015.
  • Maintain professional licensure in Virginia and be responsible for supervising production of construction documents, studies, and reports.
  • Seal/sign construction documents as appropriate.

Financial Performance
  • Responsible for the overall profitability and financial performance of the office.
  • Collaborate with JMT Regional and Corporate Managers to support work-share and business development efforts.
  • Ensure the assignment of staff resources is coordinated with regional offices.

People Management
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the firm's policies and applicable laws.
  • Interview, hire, train, assign and direct work, appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team.

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Master's degree in engineering (Preferred)
  • Registered Professional Engineer in VA
  • 20+ years of industry experience including supervisory, project management, and business development.

Working Conditions
Successful candidate is expected to work primarily in-person. Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
