Job Summary:

The Assistant General Manager helps the General Manager to ensure the day-to-day business operations run smoothly.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and assignments of the hotel staff; assist the General Manager in the development and communication of departmental strategies and goals.
  • Communicate and enforce policies and procedures
  • Recommend and/or initiate salary, disciplinary, or other staffing/human resources-related actions in accordance with Company rules and policies. Alert General Manager of potential issues
  • Ensure all staff is properly trained and have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their job functions
  • Supervise staff in multiple departments as needed
  • Use company-wide tools, systems and applications without exception
  • Provide hands-on support for front office operations
  • Ensure accounts receivables are updated and invoices are sent and reconciled weekly. Follow-up with customer payments to ensure proper credit to accounts and elevate customer non-payment issues immediately
  • Front office, revenue, and reservation functions to ensure the delivery of superior guest services, the security of monies, credit card transactions and guest information, and that established goals are achieved
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for guests, employees, and hotel assets
  • Respond to guest inquiries to include complaints
  • Report incidents to the appropriate people to include HR, Insurance, RDO, etc
  • Maintain a proactive human resources function to ensure positive employee relations, training and development, wage/benefit administration and compliance with policies and procedures and labor regulations
  • Make recommendations for capital improvements to enhance the assets of the company and brand loyalty

Experience and Education:

Prior Assistant General Manager, Front Office Manager, or Operations Manager experience

Proficient in Microsoft 365 or similar computer applications

Experience with brand's PMS and Point of Sales systems

Minimum High school diploma, GED or equivalent

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major preferred
