Overview
Our growing multi-franchise auto group is seeking an experienced Automotive Controller/Office Manager to join our team. We are looking for a candidate who takes ownership and pride in the quality and accuracy of their work, has proven leadership and coaching abilities, and is well versed in all facets of automotive accounting. The Controller/Office Manager will report to the company's Corporate Controller, is a hands-on bookkeeping role, and will act as the lead liaison for assigned dealerships.
We are a family owned and operated group of Automobile Retailers located in White Plains, Nyack, Danbury and Wappingers Falls. We represent some of the finest nameplates in the industry: Volvo, Subaru, Lincoln, Mazda and Volkswagen. Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Thorough understanding of automotive administrative and accounting functions
  • Multi-rooftop experience a plus
  • CDK experience
  • Proficient computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized with strong follow-up abilities
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Professional and dependable team player, with a high level of integrity

Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
  • Manage the day-to-day accounting and administrative operations of the dealerships to ensure all transactions are recorded timely, accurately, and in compliance with the company's policies and procedures
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure, maintaining accurate and complete accounting records.
  • Obtain a thorough understanding of manufacturer programs
  • Manage, develop, and coach staff in a professional, positive work environment
  • Prepare/Review monthly Financial Statements and ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Prepare monthly commissions for submission to payroll department

  • Control all posted documents including vehicle sales, additions to inventory, expenses, commissions, etc...
  • Reconcile and review all balance sheet accounts regularly to ensure they are current and accurate; identify and rectify any outstanding items; prepare and maintain supporting schedules as needed
  • Prepare sales tax returns and ensure timely submission of payment to appropriate agencies
  • Participate in year-end close; providing all necessary schedules and documents as needed
  • Maintain an open dialogue with General Managers and Department Managers to address and resolve any issues/concerns
