Job description

Office Manager

Telcom, Inc.
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Position: Full-Time, 40 Hours per Week
Work Arrangement: In Office

About Telcom

Telcom, Inc. is a South Carolina-based technology contractor providing structured cabling, network infrastructure, security, access control, audiovisual, and related technology solutions to commercial, education, and government customers throughout South Carolina.

We are seeking a dependable, highly organized Office Manager to manage the day-to-day administrative functions of our Columbia office and support our management, project, sales, service, and field teams.

Position Summary

The Office Manager plays an important role in keeping Telcom's daily operations organized and running smoothly. This is a hands-on position with responsibility for several critical business functions, including weekly payroll, daily customer invoicing, service order coordination, and administration of our Knowify business management software.

The Office Manager is also often the first point of contact for customers, vendors, and visitors and serves as both a face and voice of Telcom. We are looking for someone who is professional, welcoming, and brings a positive, helpful attitude to the workplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and process weekly company payroll.
  • Manage daily customer invoicing and related billing documentation.
  • Coordinate and manage service orders, including scheduling, customer communication, and tracking work through completion.
  • Manage day-to-day administrative activities within Knowify, our primary business management software.
  • Support project managers, sales staff, technicians, and management with scheduling, documentation, and administrative needs.
  • Assist with accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchase orders, vendor documentation, and other general office functions.
  • Maintain organized and accurate company, customer, employee, and project records.
  • Handle general office administration and communication with customers, vendors, and employees.
Qualifications
  • Prior office management, administrative, payroll, or accounting-support experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general business software.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Knowify, or similar accounting/project-management software is a plus.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable taking ownership of responsibilities.
  • Experience in construction, contracting, technology, or a service-based business is a plus but not required.
  • Professional, approachable, and able to contribute positively to a team-oriented workplace.
Compensation and Benefits

Telcom offers competitive compensation based on experience along with a benefits package that includes:

  • Health insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Paid vacation
  • Paid sick leave
What We're Looking For

Telcom is a relatively small company, so this is not a narrowly defined corporate administrative position. The Office Manager is a central part of our day-to-day operation and interacts with virtually every area of the company.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their responsibilities, communicates well, follows through, and is willing to help wherever needed. Just as importantly, we want someone who enjoys working with people and contributes a positive, professional energy to the office. Because this person frequently represents Telcom to customers, vendors, and visitors, a friendly and helpful approach is an important part of the role.

Position Details

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, in-office position at Telcom's Columbia, South Carolina office.
