Job Summary

The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day operations of the Housekeeping department at a high-volume timeshare resort. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, results-driven leader with a strong understanding of timeshare or resort operations, exceptional attention to detail, and a proven ability to lead and develop high-performing housekeeping teams in a fast-paced, high-touch environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all housekeeping operations for a high-volume timeshare resort, ensuring villas consistently meet established standards for cleanliness, presentation, and service.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse housekeeping team, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and maintain housekeeping standards, procedures, and quality control processes to ensure consistent results across all villas.
  • Manage daily staffing, assignments, and operational priorities to ensure villas are cleaned, inspected, and released on schedule.
  • Conduct daily departmental briefings to communicate VIP and owner arrivals, special requests, occupancy levels, villa readiness, and operational priorities.
  • Conduct regular property walk-throughs and quality audits of guest villas, corridors, public spaces, and other resort areas.
  • Partner closely with Front Office, Maintenance, Engineering, and other resort departments to coordinate villa readiness, maintenance needs, special requests, and operational priorities.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide ongoing coaching and feedback, and administer disciplinary action when necessary and in accordance with company policy.
  • Oversee inventory management and procurement of guest amenities, linens, cleaning supplies, equipment, and other housekeeping materials.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, health department, environmental, and company safety standards and requirements.
  • Develop and manage the annual housekeeping department budget and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and control costs.
  • Monitor labor costs, staffing levels, productivity standards, overtime, and cost-per-occupied-room metrics.
  • Approve payroll, purchase orders, invoices, and vendor agreements in accordance with company policies and established authorization levels.
  • Establish and monitor departmental KPIs, using operational data to identify trends, address performance gaps, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and present monthly housekeeping performance reports and business updates to senior leadership.
  • Ensure the housekeeping department is adequately staffed, trained, and prepared to meet seasonal fluctuations, occupancy demands, and resort business needs.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive housekeeping leadership experience, including at least 2 years as a Director or Assistant Director of Housekeeping.
  • Proven ability to manage large, diverse teams in a fast-paced, seasonal resort environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in team supervision, staff training, and management of housekeeping teams.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
