Job description

 Position Overview: 

Well established primary and specialty care private practice looking to hire a full-time optometrist to join our family in providing exceptional care to central Massachusetts. Our schedule is a mix of 20 and 30 minute comprehensive exams as well as specialty care and medical exams. We have a dedicated office manager as well as support staff to aid in pretesting and specialty testing.  

Required skills: Refraction using automated phoropter (willingness to learn), comfortable providing routine and medical care.

About the Practice: 

Our family practice has been consistently providing care for over 100 years and has been owned and operated by the Thamel family for over 60 years! Our doctors provide comprehensive primary eye care that includes a significant amount of ocular disease.  

We also provide a number of subspecialties. Vision therapy has been part of the practice since the 1960s with a protocol that incorporates classic therapies as well as emerging technology. We have been providing dry eye treatment and specialty contact lenses for the past 15 years and low vision services were added in 2022. Our practice has been a proud member of Vision Source for the past 20 years, and we benefit from participating in many of the programs they have to offer. Vision Source is a community of like-minded optometrists in private practice in Massachusetts and across the nation.

We enjoy keeping up with the newest technology and highest quality products. Technology we utilize includes: 

  • Monaco Optos, MarcoTono-Ref/ODP3, Olleyes Virtual Visual Field, Topcon Maestro OCT, Ion Slit lamp camera, Marco automated Refraction system, RETeval  
  • Dry Eye: Oculus Keratograph 5M, Lipiscan, Lipiflow, Lumenis M22 IPL 
  • VT/Binocular Vision/Sports Vision Training: Neurolens, Righteye, Oculus VR, In office VT w/3 vision therapists 
  • Low Vision: Humanware CCTVs, Eschenbach CCTV and magnifiers, Orcam  
  • Myopia management: Myopia master, topographer in each office, Misight, Ortho K, Stellest 
  • Optical: Optikam, in office edging, Essilor products
