Job description

Overview:

 The Import CHB Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the customs brokerage and import team to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing of import shipments. This position ensures compliance with U.S. Customs and other government regulations, provides leadership to import staff, and supports operational efficiency through consistent process execution, training, and customer service. The Import Supervisor works closely with branch management to meet performance targets and customer expectations.

(* In applicable facilities, the Import CHB Supervisor may oversee Air BB, NVOCC, and CFS functions. )

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee process flows in compliance with company policy, CBP regulations, and applicable agency requirements.
  • Support development and implementation of internal SOPs; monitor KPIs to ensure timely cargo recovery, clearance, and handover to brokers.
  • Ensure accurate and compliant documentation is created, filed, and transmitted to appropriate government agencies.
  • Respond to internal, customer, and customs requests regarding classification, duty rates, documentation, and import requirements.
  • Provide oversight of client data records including rate agreements, HTS classifications, POAs, IRS data, and Customs Bonds, ensuring timely updates in proprietary systems.
  • Collaborate with sales on customer-specific handling procedures and assist in onboarding new accounts.
  • Monitor billing accuracy and timeliness; provide support with account reviews and A/R collections as needed.
  • Arrange and coordinate transportation, warehousing, and distribution of imported goods; support vendor negotiations when required.
  • Conduct entry audits to ensure compliance and quality standards are met.
  • Assist with post-entry functions such as duty drawback, refunds, and issue resolution in coordination with the customs brokerage team.
  • Contribute to monthly reporting for branch management.
  • Train and onboard new employees, providing ongoing coaching and development, evaluate performance and addres performance concerns.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with government agencies on behalf of the company and customers.
  • Support audit and compliance programs, including JSOX and internal quality reviews.
  • (In applicable facilities, will Supervise daily import activities, ensuring efficient handling of Air BB Import, Ocean Import, CHB, and CFS.)

 

Qualifications:

  • 4–6 years of experience import operations (Air and Ocean), including exposure to CHB functions; supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associates Degree preferred.
  • Customs Brokerage License preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of CBP regulations and other import-related compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with CFS operations and warehouse processes is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with import systems and databases.


Salary Range is between $75,000 - $95,000 depending on experience.
