Position Summary

The Barback position is a crucial support role within the bar area, ensuring bartenders have the necessary supplies and assistance to provide excellent service to customers. Barbacks help maintain the bar's cleanliness, restock inventory, and assist with various tasks to ensure smooth and efficient operation.

This role will pay an hourly rate of $16.90-$17.90.

This is a seasonal role from June 25, 2026, and will end on September 30, 2026.

This position will remain open until August 28, 2026.

About the Venue

The OC Fair & Event Center is a year-round event venue located in Costa Mesa, California. It is best known as the home of the annual OC Fair, but the property also hosts a wide variety of events throughout the year, including concerts, trade shows, festivals, sporting events, community events, conventions, and private gatherings. The OC Fair & Event Center serves as a major entertainment and community hub for Orange County, offering indoor and outdoor event spaces, exhibit halls, arenas, meeting rooms, and entertainment venues. The property features attractions such as the Pacific Amphitheatre, equestrian facilities, and event grounds that accommodate large-scale public events and corporate functions.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain bar operations and support bartenders before, during, and post-hours of operation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and always restock the bar's equipment.
  • Fill garnishment trays when needed.
  • Refill ice wells.
  • Restock liquor / wine / canned cocktails.
  • Able to receive and stock deliveries and place items in correct areas of the bar / back of house with a clear and organized approach.
  • Set up and break down the bar with consistency, organization, and insight on a daily basis.
  • Check and assist servers in maintaining adequate amounts of supplies, i.e., stir sticks, napkins, etc., for both the immediate bar and beer stands.
  • Communicate with servers on orders to ensure delivery of supplies to members in a timely manner and alert the Bartender & Bar Manager before running low on a particular item.
  • Take pride in personal appearance, reporting to work in neat and clean clothing and maintaining well-groomed hair and personal hygiene as established by Company policy.
  • Work in a team environment with the ability to be a team player.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
  • Assist other Team Members as needed or when business needs dictate.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years acting as a Barback or in a similar role in hospitality/food & beverage environments.
  • Must have RBS alcohol certificate required by law.
  • Must have CA food handler's certificate required by state law.
  • Ensure they have what they need to do their work and take a hands-on approach to work.
  • Must have knowledge of or be willing to be trained on how to change bibs / kegs.
  • Must have knowledge of various beers, wines, and spirits.
  • Must maintain excellent attendance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-orientated environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to appropriately interpret and follow policies and procedures.
  • Ability to meet the demands of the work schedule to be at work and on time and work long hours if needed.
  • Ability to work days, nights, and/or weekends as required.
