Job description

Birmingham OB/Gyn | Birmingham, Alabama
Full-Time
If you're an experienced Certified Medical Assistant who takes pride in knowing your patients, anticipating what your physician needs, and keeping a busy clinic running smoothly, we'd like to talk with you.
Birmingham OB/Gyn is looking for an experienced CMA to join our clinical team. OB/Gyn or women's health experience is strongly preferred.
This isn't an entry-level position. We're looking for someone who already understands what it means to work in a fast-paced medical practice and can bring clinical skill, professionalism, good judgment, and a patient-first mindset to the role.
What You'll Do
As a CMA at Birmingham OB/Gyn, you'll work closely with our physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical team to care for women through many different stages of life.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing patients for obstetric and gynecologic visits
  • Obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical histories, medications, and other clinical information
  • Preparing exam and procedure rooms
  • Assisting physicians and providers with examinations and in-office procedures
  • Administering intramuscular and subcutaneous injections
  • Performing and documenting clinical tasks within the scope of the CMA role
  • Accurately documenting patient information in the electronic health record
  • Assisting with patient messages, test results, prescriptions, referrals, and follow-up as appropriate
  • Helping coordinate the flow of a busy physician schedule
  • Providing patients with a professional, compassionate, and reassuring experience
  • Working collaboratively with physicians, providers, nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff
Who We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in candidates who have previous OB/Gyn or women's health experience and understand the unique clinical and personal nature of caring for women.
The strongest candidates will have:
  • Current Medical Assistant certification
  • Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant in a physician practice
  • OB/Gyn or women's health experience strongly preferred
  • Strong clinical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to anticipate needs and stay organized in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Confidence working directly with physicians and other healthcare professionals
  • A strong understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality
  • Professionalism, dependability, and a positive approach to teamwork
  • Experience with electronic health records; Greenway PrimeSuite experience is a plus

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who understands that excellent patient care is about more than completing a list of clinical tasks. Our patients remember how they were treated, whether they felt heard, and whether the people caring for them made them feel comfortable and confident in their care.
Why Birmingham OB/Gyn?
Birmingham OB/Gyn is an established, independent physician-owned practice that has cared for generations of women in the Birmingham area.
Our practice continues to grow, but our focus remains the same: providing high-quality, personal women's healthcare while creating an environment where excellent employees can build meaningful careers.
Our clinical team works alongside experienced OB/Gyn physicians and advanced practice providers and has exposure to a broad range of women's health services, including obstetrics, gynecology, preventive care, in-office procedures, ultrasound, mammography, and other women's health services.
If you're looking for more than just another medical assistant position-and want to become an important part of a team caring for women throughout their lives-we'd like to hear from you.
Apply today to join Birmingham OB/Gyn.
