• Conduct thorough assessments of students and their families to identify social, emotional, and environmental challenges that may affect their academic performance and overall well-being.
• Develop and implement individualized service plans, outlining specific goals, interventions, and methods for progress monitoring.
• Provide counseling and mental health support to students and families experiencing difficulties, using evidence-based therapeutic techniques to facilitate healing and empowerment.
• Work collaboratively with clients to create personalized strategies that connect them with community resources, including academic support services and mental health programs.
• Facilitate crisis intervention when necessary, conducting risk assessments and safety planning to ensure the immediate safety and well-being of clients.
• Collaborate with various community agencies and organizations to coordinate services and advocate effectively for clients’ needs.
• Engage in community outreach initiatives to raise awareness about the services we provide and to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
• Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and ongoing professional development training to stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in social work.

This role specifically focuses on students in the school setting, addressing issues such as academic stress, family dynamics, mental health concerns, and life transitions. You will work with diverse populations, ensuring that cultural competence informs your approach to client interactions and service delivery. • A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program is required.
• An active state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia is mandatory.
• Strong understanding of social justice issues and awareness of community resources to support diverse populations.
• Proven excellent communication skills and cultural competence in engaging with students and families.

• Previous experience in a school setting or social service agency is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices and crisis intervention strategies.
• Background in mental health counseling or case management.
