Job description

An experienced NICET Level IV certified Chief Construction Inspector is needed for the NYSDOT Region 4 NY-33A (Chili Ave) over the Erie Canal Bridge Replacement Project in August 2026. Under the direction and supervision of the NYSDOT Engineer-In-Charge, the Chief Construction Inspector will oversee all on-site operations of the contractor to ensure that the work is completed in accordance with the contract documents. The Chief Construction Inspector will also oversee the work of other inspectors on the project and assist the Engineer-In-Charge with the administrative duties involved in the coordination of the project. The candidate will be a proactive self-starter and a leader to others.Responsibilities:

  • Oversee contractors' work to ensure conformance with the contract documents
  • Ensure all work follows the NYSDOT Standard Specifications
  • Supervise the work of other inspectors
  • Verify all materials on-site are from an approved source
  • Assure all MURK procedures required by the NYSDOT are followed
  • Address field and design changes as necessary
  • Prepare Daily Work Reports documenting completed work for payment to contractor
  • Attend progress meetings

Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is required
  • A minimum of 10+ years of bridge construction inspection experience
  • NICET Level IV Certified or Equivalent based on experience
  • Experience overseeing projects and / or inspection staff
  • Provide a detailed resume highlighting your experience
