They also play a key role in policy development and risk management for the department. Working as part of a legal team within a dynamic law enforcement environment, NYPD Attorneys regularly collaborate with police leadership and other government attorneys. This role offers opportunities to handle diverse and impactful cases, making it well-suited for attorneys interested in public service law.

Excellent analytical thinking, negotiation, and communication skills, along with the ability to remain composed under pressure, are highly valuable. These competencies are essential for effectively representing the NYPD in legal matters, navigating complex cases, and collaborating with law enforcement personnel and city officials.
