After-School SETSS – Senior High (Math)

Overview/Impact:

Are you a dedicated Special Education Teacher eager to create a significant impact on students' academic achievement in Manhattan? Knowledge Road is seeking a part-time Special Education Teacher (SETSS) to join our team and deliver critical support to students in NYC Department of Education (DOE) schools. With a major city-wide shortage of qualified special education professionals, your expertise is critically needed to ensure students receive the personalized instruction they require. This provides the chance to engage directly with students who need specialized academic assistance, helping them reach their educational goals through focused intervention and evidence-based instruction.

As a SETSS provider with Knowledge Road, you'll deliver individualized services, collaborating closely with families and school teams to promote student progress and academic achievement.

Responsibilities:

As a Special Education Teacher (SETSS) with Knowledge Road, you will:

  • Offer high-quality, individualized, and small-group instruction to students with disabilities, in accordance with their Individualized Education Service Programs (IESP).

  • Ensure fulfillment of each student's weekly IESP mandates and maintain an intervention schedule coordinated with the school timetable.

  • Develop and submit quarterly progress reports and maintain regular family communication with updates on progress and next steps.

  • Document service delivery and student performance in Knowledge Road's system with precise and timely documentation.

  • Create and implement engaging and effective lesson plans that meet the unique academic, social, and emotional needs of each individual student.

  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other school staff to build a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students.

  • Track and evaluate student progress, providing regular updates to families and school-based teams.

  • Attend IESP meetings as required, providing professional insights and recommendations to support

Qualifications

• Valid NYS Students with Disabilities (B-2, 1-6, 7-12, or All Grades) or NYS Literacy Specialist.

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

• Must not have been employed by NYC DOE in the past 12 months.

Experience teaching Advanced Mathematics.

• Dependable transportation.

• NYC DOE fingerprinting clearance required, or willingness to obtain prior to start.

Current Openings:

The following are some of our current openings. We do have additional cases available across Manhattan and we are currently hiring for all positions:

Schedule & Location:

This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule during school day hours or after school, that follows the NYC DOE calendar. Services will be provided on-site at a school in Staten Island or at the child's home, with assignments depending on student needs. Hours/week are based on IESP mandates; caseload may vary by assignment. Typically ~5-15 hours/week, based on placements, with additional cases and hours available while coordinating with our recruitment team.

Compensation:

$70 per hour (1099). Rate varies by group size and assignment. Individual IESP sessions typically begin at $70/hr.
